got to see the progress (or lack thereof) on this baby- justa big hole in the ground.

with walls. Hey- we chronicled the rise of the hockey rink, maybe this will go just as fast.

I was hopeing for a little more progress on this thing as we enter the recruiting season. Need to impress those potential recruits to show that we mean business.

Thanks for bringing us the pics, PAmedic. It looks like they have plenty of work ahead of them.

the clarity looks horrible in the thumbnails, but if you click them the full sized picture looks a billion times better. Well- maybe a million, lets not get crazy here.

also, the photos don't do justice to the overall size of this thing. In the finest tradition of scofflaw LU students, I hopped the fence (not really) and wandered down into the hole- its BIGGER than it looks. Put 2 stories on that foundation and its gonna be impressive.

I have a feeling that now that the ice rink is up and running, manpower is going to be diverted to this so that it gets done on schedule (provided the weather can be good for a while)

all manpower is directed to TRBC right now. but i have been told progress is forthcoming soon!

What's the over/under on the completion date, both what they say and what actually happens? Hey, anyone remember how long the Crowder-Muckel baseball fieldhouse took to be built (6 or 7 years).

I have seen pictures of what the football fieldhouse will look like when all is said and done, and it looks nice. As for now... hole in the ground...

Reminds me when they were constructing the addition onto DeMoss -- the hallways were gutted, and things were leaking, so the construction crew decided to make funnels out of tarp, attach them to the ceiling and have them drip murky water into a trash can.

Made me proud to be an LU student. Oh wait, I was hideously embarrassed.

I know you don't want to hear this, but you should have been there in the 80s. You have absolutely no idea how much worse things could be (and, in some cases- WERE!)

"You've come a long way, baby!"

For once, I agree wholeheartedly with medic. You guys have no idea.

That operations center was supposed to be completed the summer of 2002...I say it will be complete by 2010

I thought it was neat that they were able to keep it open and still do the construction. I had heard the alternative about bussing us over to TRBC at the time, and I was ready to start the transfer process had that come to pass. I can deal with murky water in trash cans, but being shuttled across town...nope.

The word I have heard while I was at the peaceful demonstration friday....
TO quote another poster "in the finest LU traditions......" there was apparently a LOT more fill then they had thought. (Or no one bothered to check) Apparently someone said "Hey THERE is a good place to put it" and it hasnt been right since. Also they are having to go down a lot futher with there supports/footers. It does sort of remind me of the good old days when we decided to put an arena floor where all of the campus rain water drains into. I did hear from the brother of a friends father's aunts secretary say it WAS going to be called the Vines Center and Water park, but then Jerry bought Heritage USA and that sort of soured his taste on Christian amusement parks.
Over under?? 2008

If only they hadn't ordered the wrong steel.

Nope. Not kidding.

I believe all the first steel was donated, we just didn't make plans that was able to use that specific type of steel.

ok.
Odd, but somehow that doesn't surprise me. Please tell me they're not going to try to rig the building somehow just to use free steel.
We'll just have a few extra medic units standing by just in case.

I even saw them working during the lacrosse game on Sunday so I think they are reallly pushing to have it done for the summer
