757

I know the 757 area has been a recruiting hotbed for a while. And reading the Athlon article on recruiting there, everyone now knows. I guess LU doesn't really make it a priority to recruit there. We only have a couple of kids from that area on the roster yes? Is there any particular reason for that?

Obviously we recruit several areas pretty hard...

26 VA (As far as I can tell, only 2 from the 757 hotbed)
11 FL (That's a good number of kids from a talent rich state)
09 NC (Good recruiting state and glad to see a high number since it's a border state)
07 TX (Glad to see we hit TX recruits hard)
07 MD
04 GA
03 AL
02 PA (I'm surprised by the low number of PA recruits, given it's a border state)
02 DE
02 NJ
01 NE
01 NY
01 MA
01 WA
01 CA
01 MN
01 TN

1) Old Dominion.
2) JMU.
3) Big South.

There are always a few 757 payers who are recruited nationally. Then UVA and VT fight over the rest of the elite players and we compete with JMU, ODU, Richmond and W&M for the second tier guys. Yes, being in the Big South instead of the Colonial doesn't help.

Spot on with all three reasons

I hope that we begin to re-emphasize PA more in the coming years. We've had some really good players come out of the commonwealth.

For the record, we have annually done camps in the 757 including one just a week ago. We have worked the 757 hard but just haven't made as many in-roads there as perhaps we would have liked. But I obviously am a big fan of us recruiting on a more national level and less on a regional level. I recognize that is not always a popular position on this board.

As long as we can win I don't care where they come from, as long as they get a 2017 DT from Roanoke.
