Turner Gill Football Camps Are Underway

The next few weeks are crucial for Liberty recruiting as Coach Gill's camps get underway. The One-Day Camps begin Sunday on campus and held periodically for the next four weeks. These are the camps where players come by to essentially try out for the coaches or if they already have an offer, see if this is the kind of place they could see themselves. We tend to do well with kids who actually make it on to our campus.

The big 3-day overnight camp is coming up on June 15th. Typically there are commitments that come out of that camp each year.

The Friday Night Lights camps are the next two upcoming Fridays, June 13th & 20th. These are set up to run in 7-on-7 settings. As a result they are only for skill players.

And the 757 Camp in Virginia Beach for this coming Thursday, June 12th.

That sounds like a GENIUS idea! Did LU's 757 Camp start with Coach Gill, or did he inherit that from Rocco?

I really think LU could do some damage recruiting out of the 757 area.

The problem is that everybody else sees things the same way. What has happened now is that much like all the car dealerships sitting next to each other on motor miles, most of the schools are now scheduling their one-day camps in the 757 next to each other so kids can hit a bunch of camps in a row. I'm glad we are in that mix. Then again, I'd be thrilled if we had one-days in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta & South Florida.
