Me and my youngest son were at Monday's practice. didn't know they had one last night or i would have went down. since this will be his last year playing football and if i'm in town i'm gonna hit as many as i can. i was actually impressed with both sides of the ball, a couple passes were dropped that i thought should have been caught. however it was cold and i'm sure that had an effect on the fingers. i thought Josh had some good zip and tight spiral on his throws even the deep balls. I really liked the few option plays he ran. I had the chance to talk to Kevin Fogg for a while not the first time but thought i would mention what a great person and representative for LU he is. I think my highlight of the night was a certain LB's blitz that blew up the back and got the QB, can only imagine if it had been at full speed. my source tells me the Newman kid is gonna be REAL good. Before i get off here i just wanted to give a shout out to MR. GOMES, I enjoy talking to him every chance i get. I'm not sure if it's the fact that he doesn't deal with rednecks like me on a regular basis or what, but i have him in tears on my outlook and stories every time.

Ed still calls me every year on my birthday. He always leaves a voicemail singing happy birthday with, "Big J! Happy Birthday. Hope things are well. Love ya man." Every. Single. Year. That dude is great.

I will never forget Ed. He would come by our office and sing gospel through the halls every day. Miss that guy.

Newman Kid? Ill look him up. Also Ronnie, Nick posted a picture of you on yalls annual beach trip on instagram the other week. Man that Mullet !

I was watching a few clips of the QBs online, during Daily's interview with York. There is one kid that looks 6'6'. My goodness he looked like a giant standing near , Masha, and Woodrum. I dont think it was Shastasy. He was too bulky.

These notes were taken from Monday's practice, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get them up on Tuesday due to some internet problems.
And I agree about Newman as well as a lot of the other young guys looked really solid.

The scoring system sure is complex. I don't know how fans are supposed to keep up with what the score should be.

This is boring. At least it was a nice day to walk around
Never mind, game time was 40 minutes later than it was supposed to be.

I get the idea about having Spring Games in the format that we have them in, staying injury free and orchestrating specific match-ups you want to see as coaches, but I hate it. If I wanted to see that I could go sit and watch any practice in which they have a short scrimmage involved. I've talked with numerous football players and they love the idea of captains picking teams and having a real game, with the winner getting a good dinner, or even just bragging rights. Heck even have 1st team O/Second team D vs. 2nd team O/First Team D. The coaches have all Spring to see what they want, and this is the one chance for fans to see what they want and to remind them to be excited about what's to come in the Fall. Part of this may come from me growing up a Bama fan and seeing their competitive Spring Games, but I had many friends leave Saturday because it was a waste of time. The fans would love it, the players would love it, and I feel like the coaches would really enjoy coaching against one another as well honestly. Format probably won't change under this coaching staff, but one can hope.

I made the trip for a spring game a few years ago. The home side of the stadium was under construction, the crowd was small and the football was boring. The best part of the trip was the baseball victory over VMI that day. I won't be making a trip for the spring game again until it becomes more of an event.

I was at the ODU spring game and they had not only the game, but a massive barbecue with live music, a 5K run and even had a couple other athletic events (free admission to the baseball game with your ticket from the barbecue) so I think stuff like that in addition to the yard sale. maybe give it the full gameday experience...with the band playing stands tunes too
