Really excited about this years proday. It definitely should be a lot of scouts out, especially from all the buzy Walt Aikens is creating. Also, Kevin Fogg, Franis Bah, Aldreakis Allen, Cory Freeman and Jibrille Fewell have a shot at impressing the scouts. What do you guys think about this years nfl proday?

I find it interesting that Rocco always said he chose to play a 3-4 defense at LU because he thought it was easier to recruit linebackers to FCS than D-linemen. Now 3 of the 6 NFL "prospects" we have this year are D-line and 2 of them are Rocco recruits. Of course Bah was recruited as a TAILBACK and was only about 220 when he arrived.

I converted a few of them but it is an exhausting project.

Is today the Pro Day in Lynchburg, Average Joe? I have been out of the loop.

Just a guess, but CES Performance, founded by LU football pioneer Chip Smith, has a location in Duluth, GA. They do a lot of pre-draft training and count Colin Kaepernick as an alum.

Today is the big day for our seniors with NFL aspirations. I´m interested to hear how they do on their measurables. Aikens may not run the fastest 40, but should wow them with his verticle, standing long jump and some of the other drills. I think Bah can open some eyes if he happens to be healthy for a change. He´s fast for his size and reportedly the strongest guy we have had since Godsil.

Aikens clocked a 4.42 40 and Fogg a 4.45.

4.4s is the range you want to be in for a DB right?

That's pretty good. Darrell Green was @ 4.25 - I know he was considered the fastest man in NFL during his time with the Skins.

If they went to the combine, they would both have been in the top 10 fastest defensive backs.

Apparently Aiken's vertical was "only" 35 inches. That's not chopped liver, but after seeing some of his dunks I'm surprised it wasn't closer to 40. Almost 10 feet in the standing broad is really getting it out there. If I recall, Jerome Simpson set the combine record at close to 11. These results are impressive for Walt, but moreso when you factor in the other measurables which are 6'1" and 205, making him the biggest corner in the draft based on what I have seen online.

I think the rise of the LOB in Seattle has helped Aikens along too. Obviously he's working hard and we all saw how solid of a DB he was during his time here. But when those scouts see him in person and realize how big he is... talk about perfect timing.

Is there any info available on how the other pro day participants did? I keep hearing about how strong and fast Bah is supposed to be, but I've never heard any numbers on it. I'd be interested in how Freeman, Fewell and AA did as well.

Fewell ran a 4.85 40, 24 reps on the bench, 4.62 shuttle and 7.5 3 cone.

Anything under 5 in the 40 for a 300 pounder like Fewell is pretty good. on the other hand, 24 reps on the bench is not so good. There are DBs that do more than that.
