Putting Fobbs, or anyone really, at ST Coordinator was a much needed move. We had too many people doing too many things last year.

agreed...Too many cooks in the special teams kitchen as it were...probably would have prevented a couple of things that led to our losses this year.

Jamaal was quite the return man back in the day for the Pokes. Good to see him adding those responsibilities.

LANG's piece yesterday...

Fobbs set to take reins of Flames' special teams
...Part of the issue with the Flames’ special teams was that there were too many fingers in the pie, so to speak. Flames coach Turner Gill began the season as the special teams’ coordinator before ultimately delegating bits of responsibility to a number of assistant coaches.

“I guess I kind of fired myself,” he said with a chuckle.
Between punting, the field-goal unit, kickoffs, coverage units, punt returns and kickoff returns, Fobbs will have his hands full trying to stabilize a unit that is of critical importance.

Those minute breakdowns in crucial moments last season showed just how important special teams are. They can be the difference between a playoff run and sitting at home at season’s end.
