So our old poster from Ship is now suggesting Coastal as a possible expansion target. Interesting.

Sly, is the author you referred to credible? I just can't fathom a scenario where Coastal could move up to the FBS within the next 1-2 years. Facility-wise, as well as attendance figures, we're just not there yet.

IMO, Liberty, JMU, or EKU gets that 12th spot.

Good eye on seeing this. Thanks for posting this.

Very interesting.. :)

The Sun Belt has alot of schools that I would be able to personally attend to see the Flames on the road comparative to other conferences I've heard past mentioned.

Kevin used to post here years ago. He's a good guy. But I doubt he has any further insight into the inner workings of the Sun Belt than we do.

I like how the title claims Benson hints at liberty yet Benson said nothing

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Liberty will not be receiving an invite from the Sun Belt.... in my opinion.

BUMP

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I see any Sun Belt schools listed here. I see Harvard, Yale, Columbia, MIT, Vanderbilt, and Liberty.

Next year they'll have 13 football playing members, if a conference wants 14 football playing members they're expanding outside their normal footprint,so IMHO it's down to the 2 Virginia schools.

The Sun Belt has 11 football schools (including those in transition) + University of Arkansas - Little Rock & University of Texas - Arlington. If they add another football school, it will make 12, not 14.

Yeah, there are a treasure trove of articles being posted in the NCAA Realignment Megathread over in the Non-LU Sports Forum.

Suffice it to say that the next few weeks could be crucial to determining our FBS fate.

If God wants us in, we will get in. Plain and simple. Its kind of like looking for another job. If He has something for you to do on the old job your going to stay. If not then He will open up other opportunities. Same with this deal on finding an FBS conference. When God opens a door nobody can shut it.

smoke? :flamingdevil
......it's also pretty much locked in as the Sun Belt's newest member. A source close to the Flames' athletic director tells me the deal is pretty much done between the two parties, meaning Liberty could be off the market very soon.

Looks like the news office and SID office will both be on alert to prepare for a news conference and accompanying story
