Anyone notice, other than Sly, about our attendance figures compared to the rest of D-1AA? It was posted on CAAzone. Here is the link:

We are number 34, which I only think will rise if we continue to win.

It would have been up there with William and Mary and McNeese St if the home opener hadn't been rained upon. That is some great company to be in and is showing that we can hold our own agains't the best of 1AA. We will climb big time if we bring in what is expected for W & M (14K +) and it will continue as long as we keep winning.

24,000?? I thought Williams could only hold like 12 or something.

LUconn that is the cumulative capacity for the 2 games (12,000 X2). That figure is used to get the % of actual attendance to capacity.

oh yeah, it does say sum doesnt it. I think it might be time for ASU to expand. How can it be safe to have 150% capacity? Where is the fire marshall when you need him? Where are these people standing? the aisles? LUPD made us get out of the aisles in the Vines.

I think that App State has a hill at the back of the end zone like what we have. Added to the fact that they were the 1AA national champions last year and it would explain why attendence is so high. I am surprised to see NC A & T and Norfolk State so far up. Those teams are terrible but they still bring em in.

App has the hill in the end zone opposite of the field house.
Steve, they're not expecting 14,000 for homecoming...they're expecting 16,000.

If we bring in 16K then that would put us at 22 up their with Furman and Yale.

I have heard the 16,000 from other students, but the AD said 14,000 on the interview they aired during halftime of the Wake game....but he did say they are thinking about bringing in temp bleachers, i wonder how that would go and where they would be and such...
I bet if we had won at Towson the attendance would be even greater...i think 14,000 is a safe bet, but i am hoping for 16,000+

He told me personally 16,000.
Look at it this way, last year there were 6000 extra people that came to homecoming after two 50+ point losses. If that same 6000 showed up this year, adding to our last game, we'd have 17,500.

Also SJ, it is my understanding that a record number of Alumni is expected back for this year's homecoming. Not sure of the numbers but you know we will all be there for the game!

There were 11,500ish at the last game. Let's assume 1000 of them don't come back. That's 10,500. Then let's assume Bill and Mary brings 500 fans. Back up to 11,000. If there's a record number of alumni, we can assume that's more than 6000 which would bring the total to over 17,000.

Unless it rains really hard, I think your projections are pretty accurate SJ.

I cannot believe I am going to miss this game. I've seriously given consideration to abandoning my current life to live as a vagabond at Williams Stadium. I'd probably have to room with Gary. We'll set up bunkbends in the pressbox.

That would be some crowd. Sounds like a good guess to me.

Who says LU academics aren't a top priority? That was pretty impressive math there!

And I'm a SMGT major. We don't believe in math classes.

SJ I hope you're right...your math makes sense, but i guess being here over 3 years its kind of hard to believe....I will be so pumped if that many fans show up
SJ when you talked to the AD did he say anything about the temp bleachers?? how will that be set up??

I don't know what he wanted repeated and what he didn't so I'll just say they're working on it and nothing has been decided. They're looking at a few different options right now.

let'em bring blankets and fill in the bowl.
or add bleachers on top of the visitor locker room
probably seat 2000 up there (until the second quarter when the whole thing falls thru the ceiling)

I think filling up the hill is the best idea. The kids can roll around while mom watches them and dad watches the game...
At least that's how it was at Wake.

yeah, the hill idea is good...that is what i thought would happen, but then i heard him say the thing about temp bleachers which made me think where they would put temp bleachers and how that would all be set up.....16-17,000 would be a cool thing to see...i really do think if we didnt lose at Towson that the estimates would be higher but a couple thousand...but i won't complain with 16,000....lets hope they don't all sit on their butts like all non students seem to do at LU football games....

If W&M were having a better season, they would bring more fans as well. They are known to travel rather well in addition to their large alumni base in Central Virginia.

Maybe if we offered coed dorm rooms on campus for visiting Tribe fans, more would come.

Maybe if we offerred that for LU students we'd get our 25,000 students by 2009!!!
