How conflicted would you have been if this had been a year ago?
Great scheduling. A extremely winnable FBS game in a city we recruit and that has a very large alumni base. Well done, Paul!

I wouldn't have been torn at all. Just like I wasn't when we played them in basketball when I was there. I would have worn my 2007 big south champs T-shirt under my GSU stuff haha

You all are assuming that the Georgia State team that showed up in 2013 will be the same team that shows up in '15. They won't be.

They'll be worse

I love reading their board. Their fans are always expecting to be world beaters and they view FCS teams as so far below them; they aren't disappointing this off-season, either. Liberty is equal to Shorter???

They are ridiculous over there. But they are a fun bunch there are actually some decent people on their board. Ryan and Ben run the board and are pretty level headed.

Panama is the antithesis of level-headed.

I'm pretty sure GaSt is one of the most annoying fan bases in the southeast.

This either confirms that the Sun Belt does not want us and/or we will not be joining the Sun Belt until after 2015.

If anything it appears there is one less vehement opponent in the Sun Belt to playing us on a regular basis.

It proves that they were desperate for home games. I know for a fact they contacted my Employer and our friendly rivals just up the road about a game in 15. we already had our game with GT and no real incentive to play an in state school we are already winning recruiting battles against. I don't know how KSU answered but I doubt they would agree to anything less than a home and home with them which would draw EXTREMELY well for KSU.

^This^
I don't think the Sun Belt has any interest in asking Liberty to be a member. No FBS conference is going to welcome Liberty as a member. In my opinion LU's only shots are to (1) become a nationally dominant athletic program, thus becoming a financially sound bread winner, forcing a conference's hand to gain money and publicity or (2) the NCAA allows them to move up as an independent.

There is zero chance we move up as an independent. I'm all for winning national championships at this level but i guess I'm part of the minority. I don't think our chance comes until CUSA moves on someone in the sun belt etc.

Mike, I agree. We're not getting an invite to a FBS conference anytime soon. The sunbelt is the lowest of all FBS conferences and with them needing a 12th member and us waiting and ready they passed. JMU is the first option, but the second and third are probably Missouri St and Jacksonville St.
Filmguy why are you do certain we'll never go independent? It's not a new concept.

We have a MegaThread on the topic. The reasons we can't/won't/shouldn't go Independent are hashed over on that one.
