I'm in a cranky mood today. I figured since the schedule analysis was out I should start one on what excuses we will make next year if we don't make the play offs.
I believe, baring serious injury, we will have NONE!

Key to 2014 season is replacing the seniors lost on defense. I think offense will actually be improved in 2014. If defense steps up we should be OK.

It's why :flamingdevil exists! We expect a solid program and this coming year is the time to deliver. But you know there are the 'Excuse Crew' so we are getting them prepared!

Hey! I am in a bad mood too...which is the worst time to come on this board.

2014 will be the year that will make or break this coaching staff...improve from this year and we are golden but I am very scared we are going to regress. Somehow I have turned into this pessimistic person when it comes to our athletics department. I don't like it.

I believe our overall goal of a Big South Co-Championship and First Four out of the playoffs will be a successful season and thus not necessitate excuses.

I bet we lose to Monmouth !! We usually try our best to give away playoff opportunity to new guests to the Big south. It's like when a new kid comes to visit your house and your mom says "no little Timmy let your new Freind play with the Toy he hasn't ever gotten a chance to play with it, you get plenty of opportunities when he's gone" ... So we rollover and give them everything they want!! Prolly be Monmouth with big south bid and then costal gets at large bid...

If Monmouth was a road game then maybe you would have a point there jlread. At this point its probably going to be CCU-LU-CSU as your top 3 come media day next year

 that's the kiss of death. It's like an AD saying they have full faith and confidence in the head coach. Said coach is usually fired!

I do hope he stays

Really I think he is more genuine about it than a certain current ACC assistant whose name I will not mention because of the massive derailment it will cause because of some strong opinions by some on this board as to how that situation was handled.

2014 season excuses..........

I am sorry we failed on the 2 point conversion in octuple overtime in the National Championship game and only finished the season with an 14-1 record. The season surely cannot be considered a success going out on a note like this. I think the reason we lost was because of the School's new decision to recognize two official mascots, incorporating the name Eagles with our traditional Flames, in the same manner Auburn incorporates War Eagles and Tigers. Old Sparky was great, and propelled the team forward with his inspirational team support. New Sparky, you know, the live Eagle kept on the sidelines, was a distraction to the team... with its razor sharp talons and intimidating eagle sqwaucks and all. We will try to do better next year as we face new competition in C-USA.

BJ or HMO, you should PM your favorite Admin about this idea--and feel free to claim it as your own; Mike won't care, because he's a team player. :clapping

(This reminds me of the old glory days when Marshall had a LIVE buffalo as a mascot. Go Herd!).

Back in the Late '80s, the school looked into the live eagle mascot concept including an on-campus aviary. But I believe the hang-up back then had to do with permitting an eagle. I have no clue where things stand with the concept these days.

I'm sure they are much more stringent. But hey! That's why we have Liberty Counsel/Council :football

Couple options:
1. Invite a Native American to games that legally owns an eagle.

2. Make a contribution to Va dept of game & fish with the agreement that they bring down one of their rescue eagle from the wildlife refuge to every home game. It's not that far away(off I64 in Waynesboro).
Are we back?
