Last group on the team and its the specialists:
Kicker
John Lunsford 8-19 FG 53-53 XP 77 points
Shane Blanchard 0-0 FG 6-6 XP 6 points
After earning all-conference honors in 2012 as a true freshman, Lunsford struggled with his long range kicks, going a combined 3/11 on all kicks 40 yards and longer, including a blocked kick in the 2OT loss to Coastal Carolina, When Lunsford was suspended for the first half. Blanchard stepped in against Brevard and hit 6 PATs. With the rising junior struggling with his long range accuracy, it will make for an interesting spring as he tries to figure out what his problem is. If Liberty adds a kicker to the 2014 class that will make this position an even more important one to watch over the summer into training camp.
Punter
Trey Turner No stats (2013 redshirt)
With two time all conference punter Grant Bowden gone, the leader for the punting job is the preferred walk-on from GA heading into spring ball. This is another position that could see some interest in the 2014 recruiting class.
One position that doesnt have recordable stats but is very important is long snapper, where All-American Richard Wright finishes his career as a three time all conference honoree (and favorite for another All-American plaudit). Another preferred walk-on in Hunter Winstead will get a chance to join Dan Pope and Wright at one of he most unsung but important positions on the field.
