When Melvin Holland Jr. leaves Briar Woods after a long practice in the late afternoon, fried foods are not on the dinner menu.
His father, Melvin Holland Sr., doesn’t allow fried foods to enter his diet, and instead chooses to bake chicken and fish for his son’s post-practice meal. Holland Jr. often wakes up to a protein shake and fruit is always available in the household.

Has this kid even thought about visiting the campus here, he looks like a really solid pickup if he was to sign.

According to his dad on Twitter, he has added an offer from Minnesota.
Fredericksburg (VA) Free Lance-Star wrote:Holland, who has nine Division I scholarship offers, said Purvis demonstrated he’s “a real good running back,” and the Falcons weren’t prepared to stop him.

“I don’t think we were mentally ready for the physicality up front,” Holland said. “We were more used to seeing a spread team, so that was our first time seeing a power running team that really likes to run the ball and had a tough offensive line. Now we’ve seen more teams like that. I think we’ll handle it a lot better than we did that game.”

Holland said the setback was humbling and a bit of a shock. The Falcons were used to steamrolling their opponents. They defeated Brooke Point 63–13 in the first game of the season, and also handled Colonial Forge, 28–19, the week prior to the visit from North Stafford.

Holland said the Wolverines showed them what it takes to compete at the 5A level after moving up a classification this season.

“First of all, we knew that if we wanted to go back to the state championship, we knew we had to be able to stop the run,” Holland said. “We learned that not every time we go out on the field we’re going to win.

“People expect that because we’re Briar Woods and we won all these state championships, every time we go out on the field, we’re going to win. But if we’re not mentally or physically playing how we’re supposed to we can lose. We don’t want that feeling again.”

This would be a major coup for LU to sign this guy! He may not consider a 1aa school.
