Liberty- 27
Coastal-21

Attendance- 19,587 (If we can't break the record by playing a top 5 conference rival then who knows what it'll take aside from an FBS school!)

Me counting on a big back like Taliaferro not being able to cut through us like Green did at Richmond. Think two of their scores are deserved through solid drives and one is us making some type of big mistake through special teams, a fumble, an Int, or a deep ball that we are not in position on. Also hope that they don't have the band set up to play after the game like they did against Stony Brook last year, or something else senseless similar to that. It will create a lot of fan/student excitement to be able to storm the field on a W against a top 5 team.

Hate to think we would storm the field for beating a team in our conference, that we should probably beat at home.
Now, rushing the field if we beat Presby, VMI, Sisters of the Blind, etc. to make the playoffs.......................................... priceless.

Oh yeah solid point there Shaw...I can't imagine the likes of UNC or UVA storming the field after beating Clemson at home this year. Some may think we should win, but an unranked 3-3 team beating the #4 or #5 team in the country, who is undefeated & is our "big rival", at home on homecoming is probably a good reason to storm the field, especially if a last minute play gives us the W.

UVA, I don't know...

Storming the field is a fan's prerogative!

Go Flames!!!

I'm not in the predicting game but I would like to know the reasoning behind this one. A 15 point win on the road by Coastal? Do you really think they are that good? I think they are good and certainly have a chance to win the game but a dominant road win in Lynchburg? I'm not so sure.

Well, we are winning by an average of 21 PPG. Our largest margin of victory was by 35 points over a team that was considered one of the best in the conference. Also, our 1st team defense has only allowed 5 second-half touchdowns, the last of which was scored by EKU in garbage time. (Yes, Hampton scored 2 second-half TDs, but against our 2nd & 3rd team defense players.)

That said - anyone expecting a blowout is kidding themselves. Liberty is always a different team at home. However, I'd caution you guys to not compare this CCU team to the one that came to Lynchburg in 2011. You might as well be comparing apples & oranges.

Agree with bodoyle...if you look at the last 4 matchups between the two (09-12), one side made a big run and the other side was so shellshocked that they couldnt respond.

2009-Liberty scored 42 straight points, won 58-13
2010-Coastal scored 24 straight points, won 45-31
2011- Liberty scores first 42 points of the game, wins 63-27
2012- Coastal scores 22 of first 28 points in the game, wins 36-12

If either side gets rolling (especially Liberty with the support of the home crowd on homecoming), this could be a very one sided affair, even though most don't think it will be (although I predicted a close game in 2011 and we saw how that ended)

TIL, quoting stats makes me "cocky." I guess you missed the part of my post where I said that anyone anticipating a blowout was kidding themselves. Do I think we will beat y'all? Yes. Do I think it will be an easy victory? Not by a long shot.

It's just funny the different tone of Coastals fans this year compared to recent years.

I am glad Coastal is good again, it makes the rivalry more enjoyable. They are better than us and will win. I think it will be CCU 28/LU 23

Attendance: 19099

It would be 19,100 but I will not be able make the drive down from DC for this once as much as it saddens me. It might be for the best though I tend to bring bad luck to games I attend

If we're discussing the tempo and feel of the game, I don't think they would win in dominating fashion, either. We'll compete as we're coming off the bye, but I anticipate a few mistakes that eventually do us in. We're still learning how to win a big game, and I'm not sure we've turned the corner just yet.

Being 7-0 with wins against Elon, Furman and SC State just doesn't have the ring that it used to, but this is a good team that beat us by 24 last year. Every year changes, but 15 points is not unreasonable IMO.

As long as there's no 3OT game with 5 doinked FGs I'll be happy.

Blowout by CCU... I don't think so. Won't stop us fans from predicting a big loss, just like we did against ODU.
By the way... I doubt that Coastal would have beaten ODU this year. They got their fannies whipped there last year. I really can't predict, but I tend to agree with the fast start theory.
Are we back?

Nice! Here is to hoping we can live bot free.
