This is still a winnable. game for us. we are coming off a bye week for that one (while Coastal will get a very hungry Gardner-Webb squad plus we get them. at home which over the lat few years has given us a nice boost in conference games. just because they are 6-0 (or 5-1 depending on how next week goes) does not make them some unstoppable force rolling into Lynchburg. two years ago they were 4-1 coming into the game and zome posters (well TTL Iin particular) practically wanted to hand. CCU the game and we basically blew them out of the stadium. Now as I said in my season prediction earlier this year, I do not expect a blowout and I continur to hold to that...but just because our record isn't as good as theirs does not mean this game is or should be assumed as a lost cause. no one has found a way to leave Williams Stadium with a conference win in 7 years, and I think that trend will hold true again in two weeks

I agree, GW on the road will be a huge challenge.

Gardner-Webb is the game to watch, for sure. I had them doing a lot worse than they have done this year, especially with the offensive coordinator change so close to the start of the season. McCray certainly will be a frontrunner for conference coach of the year. The CCU game next week will tell us a lot about them though I think.

Coastal is the 6th ranked team in the country. If you're more worried about a team that just lost to a first year program than the 6th ranked team in the country, you're not paying attention to what's going on.

The challenge Coastal brings is a given?? A LU win would be an upset. What I'm saying is "if" we can pull it off, the GW game scares me. They're good and they have us at home.

GW has beat 3 teams that were ranked at the time of play, 2 of them at GW. Coastal isn't easy by any means, and like it's been said the game next week will tell us a lot, but Coastal at home after a bye week sounds a bit more appealing than playing this newly improved GW team in their house after them having a bye. If you think rankings are a tell all then you're not paying attention to what's going on.

Coastal is 5-0 yes, and you should focus on the game in front of you, but the only win of their 5 that is of note is the EKU win and even that has lost a bit of its luster of late. we get two weeks to prepare and come game day we have to set the tone, much like we did two years ago. As I said before, CCU came in 4-1 two years ago and, to the surprise of many on this board, myself included, we blew them out of the stadium (I believe they were ranked pretty high going into that game as well)

As for the Coastal game goes I am really, really going to try to make it to the game. Just made it to DC today and probably won't be settled enough to make it but I am going to try very, very hard to make it happen.

We shall see

We have a shot at this game because it's at home, but its going to take some serious focus to pull it off. Having 2 weeks to prepare certainly does hurt.

I actually think we will win this game and the way I've been talking lately I think the ol' Beej views me as a hater now. So I am sure he will be shocked.

They've won all 5 games. Doesn't matter who they were against. We've dropped 3 by 20 points. I don't think we should even mention another team before Coastal next week.

Here is the thing Ive noticed about all of the wins and losses: All of the losses have been by single digits (7, 9 and 4 points)...all of the wins, have been by >20 points (30, 28 and 66 points)...Also, in all three wins, Liberty scored first and never trailed (as simplistic as it sounds).

It appears your intel was on the mark.
