He's new.

My guess is there was some sort of Spirit FM connection and that's how he got the job. Completely uneducated guess though.

It was a huge improvement. I am not sure she was that good or if the girl last week was just that bad

The PA guy in general has struggled, that's another Liberty third down? Congrats to your 2013 hall of flames...

Maybe I should have auditioned. :) Couldn't do much worse.

I gave it serious thought but when I was going to be out of town during auditions I decided not too. Now color commentary I might re arrange my schedule

The girl last week used to do the LU Club Sports thing on YouTube, and did a decent job of it. She just seemed totally nervous and out of her element on the sidelines.

Ahh yes...I remember her...yeah she was probably very much out of her element on that big a stage. She did reporting for the hockey broadcasts a couple years ago

PA announcer was pretty dismal, almost UVA like in regards to an underwhelming game day experinece. . Really tired of the baptist side only standing for t-shirts. Marching band took three steps back this year. Also, concessions, don't even get me started. We need to do better.

The marching band is finally playing what you could call good music!

I could hear conversations four rows back of me while they were "playing". Just the total package seems to get a little better by the year but the two shows I've seen are not the greatest.

One thing at a time! At least they have updated the musical selection!

Agree. Concessions are a joke. At least the soda tasted halfway decent. I rarely get anything but I tried a flames burger at the Monmouth games. Not worth it.

So you don't like the band because the music is out of date and not relevant to the fans, then they decide to get music that people are more familiar with...and you think they took three steps back? what does it take for you to like the band and the music? (For the record, there are about 100 freshmen in the band this year)

The post above that he said they took steps back...how do you get better if you are going backwards?

Well, if you're headed in the wrong direction, then going backwards would be an improvement, haha.

Anyway, there are still people that come to the games just to hear the band. At the 1st home football game I sat next to three. It was a couple with a daughter that wanted to be in the marching band next year after she graduates from college. They left after halftime as soon as the show was over. I wish they would have stayed, but I am proud that the band still brings people to games that normally wouldn't come. I do also like the colorguard using the pom poms during the stand
music.

I wish Liberty would do what Pitt does at their home games. They play "Sweet Caroline" and the students sing along and do motions. The scoreboard actually puts the words up with a bouncing ball, it's like karaoke.

They play 'Dont Stop Believing'

It was cool to see Morgan State's QB get sacked while the students sang 'Don't Stop Believimg" in the background. :)
I'm talking about doing Sweet Caroline in addition to it, not as a replacement.

Do we really need to add a song about pedophilia, jim? I always keep hoping they will pot down before the Journey lyrics head south. During halftime, the highlight was the student section singing Living on a Prayer louder than the band playing on the field.

How many individuals auditioned for the PA job ? I was surprised at the selection. Heck, if I had known they were seeking a new PA announcer, I'd have auditioned myself.

Speaking of PA system, does anyone know why there has to be a PA announcement during EVERY "dead ball" or "stoppage of play". They always do a public service announcement, commerical or blare out music or something every time. It's like there is a law against having 3 seconds of silence during a game.

Because it is an event, not a game. If you wanna be Big Time you gotta give people a reason to come. It's the way of the world post 1970
