Hey everyone,

My family and I are looking to catch a few games at William's stadium this season. We are new to the area and wanted any recommendations on the best place to sit for our family. Me and my wife are pretty durable but we have a 9 year old and a 3 year old. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Written by someone with kids in those age ranges, I recommend the Baptist side (the one with the pressbox) without question. Depending on whether it is a night game or day game will have an impact as well. There really aren't any bad seats in the house as far as sight lines are concerned.

Thanks! Now we just need to decide which game...

Id try for closer to the field if youre going to sit on the Baptist side, I don't know how much the players that arent in the game interact once the game starts but Im sure you could get an autograph or two before or after

YR, I would recommend the upper deck as close to cool concrete wall as possible.

And since you are new in town, if you are looking for a tailgate party to join, you're welcome to join the 460 Flame Throwers: the men grill burgers and dogs over charcoal, and the wives bring casseroles and desserts to die for.

Wherever you want. All the seats are good. It depends how close to the 50 or how close to the field you want to sit. This is Liberty University - it's all good. Typically kids get more excited the closer they are to the action. Another consideration might be to be close to bathrooms for the little ones :D

We all wear diapers so that's not a big deal. As a family we are trying to be supportive of my son's dreams to become an astronaut.

Thanks! Look forward to some tailgating!

I'll hit you up for the details as time draws closer.

The best seats? It depends upon the game and how packed the stadium is. There are generally some "kid friendly" activities (bounce house, maze, etc) to the south end of the stadium. My two boys were very different from one another when they were your sons age about how well they could sit and watch. My oldest loved to sit and watch, and he got enthused by the crowd. My younger son (now 4.5) can hardly sit still. The ability to easily get up with him and take him to run around is a premium.

You should also know about the Flames Kids Club… Both our kids are members. I guess we would let you join. :D

Last year at Homecoming we sat about 7-8 rows up in front of the cheerleaders and every time they would throw shirts up in the crowd they would all go the same distance. All my kids and family scored LU gear as a result.

Yea, that's the one downside of the upper deck: it's out of range for the T-shirt toss, because most of the cheerleaders "throw like a girl". Another advantage of the south side of the stadium is that some little kids like to roll down the grassy hillside above the south end zone.

Sit on the pressbox side next to the visitor's locker room. That's my area. You get fantastic views obviously of that side of the field. When the action is at the other end it's not ideal but you can still see and the video board will be directly over the action. The huge bonus is the giant grassy hill for when your 3 year old inevitably gets bored.

The Flames Club is a good value, every fan should be a member. It plays an important role in supporting student athletics, but it's also very accessible - for as little as $50 per year you can join. It's a great way to connect with players and coaches (through numerous events), gain access to season tickets and to show your support. Our family also found that the flames kids club is a great value and will provide free admission to games throughout the year ($25 for the first child, $20 for each additional).

Will the Alumni Association or anyone have a tent set up this year, that I can eat at instead of tailgaiting. Last year HMO and his crew set up a tent and charged 5 bucks for all you could eat. I hope they do that again, but Im trying to prepare, anyone know?

There is nothing like going to a Liberty game! especially a night game! The handful of times I've been able to go it has been the best fan experience I've had at a college football game, and I've been to a few different stadium. I take my family, all six of us, kids ranged from 14-8. The last time we went all the kids painted their face and hair red white and blue. It was spectacular. We have always sat on the Baptist side, at the Liberty locker room end. We've done both the lower and upper level. There is not a bad seat, but I think we like the lower just a bit better. They are all great though.

The night games are awesome! Id tell the new freshmen band members (especially in the last 5 years or so), take the largest crowd you have marched in front of for a football game, and multiply it by a factor of 1,000 (unless youre from Texas or something) and that is what youre going to see coming over the hill when you walk into the stadium, and the atmosphere is absolutely electric.

So if they marched in front of 100 people in HS.....that makes LU's crowd Study Study ..100,000. That's a lot of people.

It is...I should have said a factor of 100...the point in the exercise was to try to prepare them for the fact that this would be the largest crowd they have performed in front of (unless they played for an NFL game or like LCA did some years ago...the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville...or some other event, although kids that marched in front of more than 1,000 people in a single performance before arriving at LU were few and far between)
