I live in Kingsport (close to Johnson City) and the prevailing rumor is that Torbush is the leading candidate to be named ETSU's head coach next week.

I know he retired from LU, but does anybody have any insight into his retirement (i.e., was it a situation where Gil said "Hey buddy, you probably ought to retire...") I thought he did a good job at LU and was actually surprised when I saw he retired.

Any other thoughts on Torbush?

He played his college ball just down the road and grew up in Knoxville, so maybe it's a "homecoming/get it off the ground" scenario like Curry at GSU, but I'm not sure the results show it works. And Torbush is no Bill Curry.

I'm surprised as well... Either ETSU offered him a "sweetheart deal" he couldn't say "no" to or he ran out of "honey do's" from his wife as he mentions when LU announced his retirement, (link below)...
