#426635
This next one got a whole lot more interesting in the last couple weeks, but the mates in the backfield along with the QBs will be extra important to the offensive success with WR a question mark going into spring practice (will look at that position tomorrow). Here are the players competing during the spring:
Players Lost:
Aldreakis Allen (pending outcome of his suspension)
Sirchauncey Holloway
Nick Martin
Andrell Morrison
Matthew Baptiste
Kendrick Couamin
Players Returning:
Desmond Rice
D.J. Abnar
Austin Kaigler
Kendall Couamin
Nicky Fualaau
The race for the #1 RB spot was turned on its head when Allen was recently suspended from the team for a violation of team policy, which instantly moved Rice and Abnar (who had the big kick return to ignite the comeback against Gardner-Webb last season) up to the top two spots with SCH graduating this May. Kaigler and Couamin have a chance to get themselves in the rotation ahead of the arrival of RB signees Toddrick Macon and Josh Smith this summer. due to the lack of game experience for those two, do not be surprised if the race for third string RB to be kept open and one of the two freshmen (likely Macon) sees some game time in 2013.
Fualaau is the only returning fullback from last year so you can put him in ink as the starter there, but you may see someone converted from another position to be his backup in case he is injured.
