HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- I actually didn't start playing football until seventh grade. I grew up watching and going to Alabama games all the time, so that's really what started it for me.

My favorite thing about football is hitting. I love hitting. And being with my teammates all the time. I think I'm more of a guy who likes contact that ended up being a quarterback than a quarterback who likes contact.
The most revealing part of the interview is toward the end ...
I'm still looking at colleges. I honestly have no idea what to study. I've thought about it a lot, but nothing really sticks out at this point. I definitely want to play at the next level.

My goals outside of sports are mainly just building my relationship with God, eventually getting married and raising a Christian family.

QB is probably not going to be one of our biggest needs in the 2014 class I would think. You have Woodrum who will be a junior (redshirt I think), then Shashaty will be a redshirt sophomore, Benedetto will be a redshirt sophomore and Masha will be a redshirt freshman (unless he blows people away next year and we cant keep him off the field as a result).

Rivals has reclassified him as an athlete FWIW. We could be looking at him at QB or other positions.

Linebacker wouldnt be a bad place for him. With our top two graduating after 2013, its certainly a position of need.

Nick is only a junior. I assume that's one of the 2 you're talking about.

Indeed...for some reason I thought he would be a senior...still though, I think this kid, if he signs here, would come in as a LB because we will have 4 QBs come Spring 2014

Westminster Christian Academy’s Jacob Parker took his official visit to the Air Force Academy (NCAA Mountain West Conference), to meet with Falcons head coach Troy Calhoun and staff this past weekend. On Wednesday night, Jacob and his family hosted coach Calhoun and Offensive Coordinator , Clay Hendrix, for an in-home visit.

“It was a great official visit, and we had a great in-home visit as well,” Jacob’s father Wayne said. “He got to spend time around some of their football players and watch film with the Tight End coach, Jake Moreland. Coach Moreland seemed to really want Jacob. He said that he had the ball skills that were needed on their team. Jacob is still undecided and processing everything.”

“Air Force has a great campus, first class facilities and a really good program,” Jacob told AL.com. “I was impressed with the people there and the hard work and dedication that is put in daily. They want me as a tight end which, in their system, means a variety of things: split out running routes, blocking, lining up in the backfield, etc.”
Basically it comes down to a choice between the Air Force Academy and preferred walk-on at Liberty or another school ...
Parker hopes to make the decision, on where to attend college, soon. “I am definitely considering the Air Force offer seriously, but I am still undecided. My other options are opportunities to walk on at other schools, which I won’t name”, said Parker. “I would like to figure it out within a week.”

It is not surprising that Jacob has opportunities to walk on at several universities. His outstanding 4.2 GPA and 33 ACT score create opportunities for academic scholarships which can be appealing to college football programs seeking to sign high quality athletes without having to use the limited number of athletic scholarships at their disposal. All things considered, though, it is pretty obvious that Jacob Parker is a student-athlete worth signing to an NCAA Division I scholarship.

Agreed ... and yet he has yet to commit. I get the feeling he might be hoping for a last minute offer somewhere.
