That's a better team than Presby and Norfolk St. They didn't make mistakes and made us make plays.

Not to mention they took away the vertical passing game that frankly has been one of our hallmarks this season

Went to Presbyterian game and Flames looked great. Is Presbyterian that bad or are we that inconsistent? We should have run over this team.

I think it may be a combination of both...that said, the run game really carried the day today with the passing game largely a non-factor

Several times this season we have had REALLY bad decisions to bring the ball out of the end zone. We had one again today… ALL THE WAY out to the FIVE YARD LINE!!!

Thats a 20 yard mistake.

Concord is a good DII football team, and a solid FCS team. Kudos to their coaching staff, especially Coach Justice.

Offensively, it was a nice day for the O-Line, who dominated in a way they should dominate a team from a lower division. Concrd was set on taking away the passing game (Where did Pat Kelly go??), but the run game came through and controlled the tempo throughout the context. Once again, mistakes by our offense led directly to points.

Defense played VERY well. No complaints here.

Special teams continues to be a head-scratcher to me. Their other points came as a direct result of am istake here, and we made two more mistakes in the retun game. What's the deal??

Flatness won't be excused by this staff, but it can be explained to a degree given the non-confernece, lower division nature of the opponent. Still only two undefeated teams in the Big South. Let's take out the Beach Chicks next week!

This game was probably circled on their calendar the day it was finalized. They played like it was their national championship game and we played like...like we were looking ahead to Coastal Carolina next weekend. That said, this team still makes me want to pull my hair out with some of the decisions (like the screen pass where we ended up losing 10 yards, DJ coming out of the endzone after mishandling the kick, etc.). Stuff like that is going to get us run off the field next weekend.

Attendance: 18,642

Nice crowd likely helped by great weather.

How sad. If there were any other conferences taking a look they just moved on. You can't under perform like this regardless of the win.

Or how about when we have 3rd and two and we throw an incomplete pass instead of just running for the short two.

i'm sorry solid d2 team or not they were missing 14 starters. OL struggled pass blocking against a d2 line. WR's played uninspired. Vanilla play calling. special teams.... terrible.

False. It's been said on here a million times but people still don't get it. Conference realignment is not about W/L...especially close wins.

Also, Concord wasn't a solid D2 team. They came in here with a 4-3 record and most of those wins were really close. At the end of the day, a win is a win and a loss is a loss. If we're going to get angry about barely beating a mediocre D2 squad, we should be exceedingly happy with barely losing to a good FBS team. I don't think today defines our team. How we perform next week and against Stony Brook will define us.

D2 says all that needs to be said. And yes I was very happy with our performance at Wake. Didn't Wake beat UVA today? This was flat and lackluster. It can't possibly help your promotion.

It doesn't help your promotion because it has zero effect on a potential invite.

Time will tell but if Im inviting someone to my party and I'm particular about who I invite Mike Tilley will only get you so far.

I dont say this often but CJbrady is right. As far as realignment goes, it doesnt matter if we win 21-13 or 51-13 (though Id prefer winning 51-13). What affects it is factors like potential TV market, overall geographical footprint, facilities readiness and a quite a few other factors LONG before you even think about wins and losses. Your logic is fail jcrew

Please explain why ODU, Charlotte, Texas St., South Alabama and UTSA received invites.

Throw in Georgia St. with those other teams.

Has absolutely no bearing on the process. They saw a nice stadium with a good crowd. Throw in the money we have and the local/regional TV ratings we pull in and the on field product is nearly meaningless. Conferences may even want a team that doesn't play well so they can get the ratings we bring without fear of losing.

I'll never do this again but +1

I dont know about the conference invite factors, but I watched the game and saw a young, uninspired team today. Mistakes will happen, but I just dont see people flying around making plays happen to make up for lack of experience and talent. This was at best an ugly win.

Ok I've done my part at stirring this pot. That was easy. Sorry I went so far off topic. Mr Brady is the wiener! Next real question, the guy that got hurt for Coastal. Key player???

I'll explain it for him. ODU (Norfolk/Virginia Beach #43 market), Charlotte (Charlotte #24 market, Greensboro/High Point/Winston-Salem #46 market, AND Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville/Anderson #36 market), Texas State AND UTSA (San Antonio #37 market) and South Alabama (Mobile/Pensacola #60) all have top 100 media markets, and the first four, all are in the top 50.

Oh and I hope you have fun inspecting your warts jcrew
