Great win, we needed this win. Hopefully we can use this momentum and make run through the conference. Go Flames!

Never giving up is a sign of coaching. IMO, we are not as talented as we would like, but the guys keep fighting. It also seems there is some chemistry developing on the team which is something we haven't had in a long time

I was not happy with the way we started, obviously, but we hung in there and dominated the 2nd half. It was good to see us put it all together and finish it strong.
Presby is next week and we always like to make that game more interesting then it ever should be

Good to see adjustments made. Not so good that it seemed to take far too long to make them. We aren't as talented as past Flames teams, but we've got some guys who can step up when they need to. I was also glad to see the reduction in penalties (especially false starts).
I think we need to show the defense film from the Wake Forest game, so they remember what they played like back then, because they haven't looked that good since. Our secondary looked sorry today for most of the game, and the defense in general lacked explosiveness until late in the game.

I really don't know what to make of it. I almost feel like a W lets them off the hook or something, but of course I'll take the win no matter how it comes. There were just so many obvious problems. The first half, our Oline couldn't do anything for the run game. The backs were being hit in the backfield. I really feel safe with our skill positions though if you expect that Woodrum will have at least 1 bone head INT per game. On defense, we did a decent job of stopping the run with the exception of the wildcat here and there. But our pass D was atrocious. Our front 4 can't get any pressure on the QB and our secondary just isn't good enough to cover for that long. The blitzing helped but if you HAVE to do that to create pressure, it's gonna get you in trouble. It's really frustrating because of how dominant our defense looked early in the season. Can you imagine that defense with the Offense that we've developed? I'd feel pretty good about the future with that. As the team stands now, I really don't see any game left that won't be a battle to win. We're not used to that and it sucks.

Look this 0-5 Big South program has been out scored 119-38 by three previous FCS opponents...some are you could have spun that Obama won the latest Presidential debate.
The minister of mediocrity definitely leading a FBS program.

That was as good as a lose. We looked like High School players. That team could've had no coaches on the field and still had similar results. Truth! Gardner Webb's a Joke and so are we. But I Hope stoney B loses tonight.

I could invoke a Disney reference in light of the last two posts but I am not going to...I will simply say that I wanted to pull my hair out watching us get down in the first half, but they made the adjustments both offensively and defensively, and most importantly...DIDN'T QUIT...and got the victory. Like LUconn I do not know what to make of the team but I am glad for a win (unlike the two posters above me)

I am glad the players get a win. Just sick the fantasy, spend unlimited $$ and live with the results. LU deserves better. Please don't try and make a poster feel bad because they expect more for this team with the budget and promotional monies invested.

Not a kool aid drinker, just find it odd you coming out after wins. I want Liberty to be the best, just like you. I only choose to do it in a different way...

The difference is, it appeared that we were ready to play a football game but GW came here to WIN a football game. I don't think our coaching was ready for this, but they made adjustments and we won the game. The most impressive thing is the team never gave up and that appears to be the moto for the season beacuse they have played that way in every game.

Interesting to see Troll of Cowardice is posting. Somehow I think it worked in our budget, coaches and AD. And even though we won we really should give the victory to GW because even with the money we spent we didn't cover some mythical point spread therefore its a lose. And anyone who thinks winning is a good thing is a Kool Aid drinker.
Of course he won't make Jerry Jr accountable because....well.....

Well, what a tale of two halves. I was pretty furious with how both sides of the ball were getting pushed around physically. When they scored the touchdown in the 3rd quarter to go up 28-10, I was ready to walk out. My wife actually convinced me to stay (definitely amazing). I want to commend the team and coaches for manning up and really taking over in the 3rd quarter. That is the most dominate 21 minutes of Liberty Football I've seen in a while. I know this gives the team momentum moving forward but I also think it does a lot for the fans. The 15k that stayed, yelled and cheered while the team fought for a W. That's one thing the program needed. Overall, the D needs to tighten up but the offense really did a solid job. Can't wait to see the career Woodrum will have. He is special.

Hey ToC,
Couple of questions for you. 1. How many Liberty games have you been to over the last 5 years? 2. Are you a member of the Flames Club? Truly just wondering.

Far from coward but obviously you grew up playing video games...we deserve better. i don't hate anyone but have seen six or seven years of spin, cocaine felons on the field, and let's see what the future unfolds. Jerry Jr has given an opportunity to lead and all the $$$ you need to build a program...if the results continue a change will come.
