I think it's a down year and they lose 3 more games: @ Presbyterian, @ Coastal Carolina and vs. Stony Brook for a final record of 4-7.

It's a toss up - either a close loss at Coastal or a close loss at home to SBU. Coastal and SBU have a ton of D1 transfers and have depth at most positions that we don't have with injuries and the like. In either game we would have to play a mistake free game, sort of what Lehigh (no TOs and 4 penalties) did against us to beat us in a close game.

I think we'll lose to both Coastal and Stony Brook. Hope I'm wrong! I went to every home game during the last abysmal Karcher year in 2005. We have significantly more talent than that year's team to lose more than 2 games. I know it's still early, but if we lose more than 2 games, I will have serious questions about the coaching staff. But I do think we have some good young talent on the team in D.J. Abnar and Woodrum.

Go Flames!

I was debating going with one loss or two (because Coastal is certainly looking improved). I wouldnt be surprised if we lost to both but Im guessing either Coastal or Stony Brook

I want to say we will only lose to CCU and SB. But in typical Liberty fashion we will probably win one of those games but lose to VMI :D

My gut tells me we may lose to both Coastal and SBU, but because I expect us to win (give credit to Rocco for instilling that in us), I'm saying we finish at least 6-5. Anything less is a major disappointment.

We lose by 2 points to #13 ranked Lehigh and we are going to get beat by Coastal or Presby?

:dontgetit Really? Wow.

I am bummed about our start also but I still "believe". Maybe not enough to pick us over SB outright but I think we will be competitive with SB. IF we can figure out the penalties which killed our drives last game and the TOs, then we have a SHOT at beating SB here at home.

I think we only lose one more game, and that's to Stony Brook. I know we usually have at least one conference WTF game, but something tells me that losing to NSU and Lehigh will have the guys focused for conference play.

I don't think we lose more than one more. If I had to get detailed, I'd say we lose a close one to Coastal (which will make me completely sick to my stomach), and that is the catalyst that pushes us ahead of Stony Brook. The week after losing to Coastal, we put up 55 on Chuck South in the first half, then put in the LCA team ;) Stony Brook jumps out to an early lead, maybe even up by 10 at halftime, but we come out after halftime and play our best half of football in the year. We stomp VMI the next week, and win the Big South by tiebreaker.

Then we draw JMU in the first round of the playoffs ....

I voted that we lose one more. I think that we don't beat SB. They are solid at the QB and RB positions. We can't say the same thing at this point. My hope is that by the time we see them we are solid in all aspects and can compete. We are at home, that should help.

I think getting Bah healthy is going to huge for us on D.

That was probably based on previous posting! :D :D
But I think you are right.

We have two inexperienced and talented QBs who have been baptized under fire (sorry for the cliche). IMHO, "QB play" will be the single greatest factor (excluding injuries) as to how far of a run we make through the BSC. I've got us losing two more (CC and SB) with the belief that we can win those games. However, I also suffer through the pragmatic perspective that says until we fix-the-pick-6 and develop a deep threat, we will experience some of the same pain as we did at Wake and vs Lehigh...two games I believed we could win.

Never surrender (cliche, I know)!

'Gutturally'? Really? I like that word. No offense, pardon the pun, but I think OL will be the biggest factor or us. Without it our QB won't have enough time pass and won't have holes for our RB.

I'm optimistic ... we just lost by 2 points, to an undefeated, #11 team in the country, while playing a freshman quarterback.

Hello all! This is my first post so I hope I don't regret entering the lions den :D

I think there is reason for optimism. We have been close in many games this year. However, I would add there's many games we should have won over many years and haven't, even under Rocco.

The play calling seems suspect at times, but we should see if it continues or changes. The staff is new and trying to figure it out. I'd give it some time to settle.

Lastly, I really think this team can make a run by playing solid, fundamental football. Woodrum has done well so far in my opinion, and Hudson can also be used if needed. I also think having Mike Minter coaching the secondary is a huge plus for not only our defense, but our recruiting as well.

We'll get through this. Just calm down a relax. Thank you for allowing me to share.

I agree with fixing the pick-6 and the need for a deep threat--those are huge, but the how the OL comes through will dictate much of the QB play, in my opinion.

I said early on this would be a rebuilding year, and I think it's possible next year will be as well, since a new coach only helps recruiting when he's either really well known or really winning. Gill didn't recruit the current team, so we can only judge the current play, and I'm not sure I'm ready to start throwing grenades at him when all we have to judge are some close calls to better programs--but there are some definite areas that really need work.

IMHO, LeHigh's biggest pass gains came when the wideouts were so open it took half the field to catch up with them.
