you can butcher the spelling and punctuations if you want. when Nick showed up for his first 2 a days prior to his freshman year of high school we had a different coach for the first time in 32 years. we had no idea what to expect. 2 years prior we had went 10-1, followed by a 4-6 season. in our parents meeting everybody noticed that our schedule of events had the banquet scheduled for january, when asked if it was a typo the coached replied "no, why would i schedule it before we had won the state championship in mid december". we were all laughing inside.
we were in every game we played but ended up 1-10. nobody likes to lose, so you can imagine how the fans were reacting. your gonna have people complaining regardless of your record.
year 2, you could see improvement at different position. parents and fans complaining on every call that didn't result in a 20yd pick up or a touch down. results 2-8.
year 3, i had seen our schedule earlier in the year and was wondering why in the world we hadn't scheduled some cup cakes just to get the morale up. as we were painting the field prior to our first game, i asked the coach what was up with the schedule and he replied " i was hired to build this program" and that if the players and fans buy into the program we were gonna be just fine. " everybody wants immediate success, but i'm looking at the BIG PICTURE" results 6-5 lost 1st round of playoffs
year 4, results 13-1. state champions
in the years since nick has been gone the team has made the playoffs every year and deep runs in 2 of them.
I was like everybody else, just wanted to win games. but having gone through this i understand the situation we are in now. would i love to be 3-0 and ranked, YES. but i see that we are in every game, and competing. to be able to score, you have to put yourself in position to score. to be able to win, you have to put yourself in position to win. we have done both.
to the people that say this team sucks, you know what you can do. it would just delete it if i tried to explain it to you.
do i agree with every play call we make, no. but the people that are in charge of the play calling know a whole lot more about football than 99.9% of the people watching the game. so i'l put my faith in them.
this is one flames family that is behind the players, coaches and the university. you don't have to agree or like what i posted, and to be honest i don't care! just know that there are probably a whole lot more of use than there are of you. GO FLAMES RONNIE

I agree completely. I am more enthusiastic about where we are as a program today than I was last December before the change. I can't even begin to state how thrilled I am with the direction defensively. With this staff defensively, we would have won more games last year. Period. I am firmly behind the staff and players.

You better preach! Seriously, had just a few more plays gone our way, we'd have at least one win, if not three. I still believe this can be the year we get over the hump and into playoffs. Thanks for your input Sigmo! Go Flames! Beat Lehigh!

There is something about a dad's post. Madmat had a great one back in '08 before our Elon game.

That is precisely the reason the school I coach for schedules a brutal non-region schedule against very good teams. Beat a good Baldwin County team. Went down to Valdosta to play Lowndes County (AAAAAA). Lost 31-21. It was on Field Turf in front of about 10,000. That was the last game we lost. We played on Field Turf at the Georgia Dome in front of 25,000. 14-1 Georgia State Champs. When I received my ring, I knew that our early schedule made us a much stronger team by the time the State playoffs started.

I had a feeling with the new coaching staff that this might be the case in developing a stronger football program. We are definitely closely with these teams in out OOC who have seen some form of postseason play. I hope we handidly beat lehigh. Here's to the Playoffs, and Go Flames.
btw, well said sigmo, I'm pumped for this season.

Well said Sigmo.
I was able to meet you and your wife at the game in Montana on Saturday.
Your son is my favorite player on Liberty Football. I am very glad that he chose Liberty and to play on the Mountain. He is one heck of a football player.
Despite what some may say at times on this board; there are in fact many on this board, that believe in our Liberty team and football players very much so. And more importantly believe that the best is yet to come as you had said earlier in your post. I believe that the future is bright at Liberty.
God bless

Haha yes. My phone needs a class. Either way LU is in a BAD spot. Go get remedial writing class to Fix a bleeding cow. The cow still Bleeds. WE don't need repair we need leadership and direction if JB hated Rocco then(he was Vein an scared) he should've grabbed something better then disaster on his way down. I think JB has done good things but if we are paying for this disaster because of peoples egos Then we all lose. I think this team has tons of potential I just think we are miss directed. Will continue to get worse .......
