G+ Hangout

I have been toying with the idea of setting up a hangout or two in advance of a game or possibly in concert with watching a game. Anybody find the idea intriguing? If not, my feelings won't be hurt.

G+ Hangouts are an excellent way to do things. I've participated in a few and they're on par with something like ooVoo and much better than Skype.
Note that the 10 person limit is on active participants but you can have more people involved as spectators only.

I have absolutely no idea what that is...

Google is the anti-christ. lol
Seriously, I signed up for G+ and hated how it pulled in all my photos (even protected ones) from my picasa web albums without asking me. So, I quit.

What? I certainly don't want my 'protected' photos getting out

That would be a pretty cool idea. If I remember to do it, I'm in.
I don't pay that much attention to my G+ account, to be honest. I know that when I share something in Google Reader, it shows up there, but that's about it.

Got Kids? Also I'm a photographer and I don't want everyone on earth having free access to download some of my landscape pics that others pay for.

Sounds like some folks need to learn how to use the extraordinarily simple privacy settings on G+. It's much easier to block anyone and everyone from seeing or accessing things on G+ than Facebook or any of the other social timesuck sites.

I've been looking into the same thing for alumni events Sly so I'm interested to see how this goes.
Agreed, Google actually is pretty good with limiting who has access to what and what you open to anyone and everyone. They did make some privacy mistakes with G+ but they've been corrected pretty good.

I have a friend is considered somewhat of a guru in social media circles who has started doing G+ hangouts with athletes and he is getting a huge response. He did some at the Olympics and attracted a ton of participants which helped him score a title sponsor.
I'm not looking to start up anything for profit, but it did leave me curious if this might be another cool way to connect.
I agree that I rarely use my Google+ account. But hangouts are the one feature that Google hit out of the park. They are fun and don't require you to download any software. Just a thought. If you guys are game, I could try setting up a test run.

I'm using it more and more because the way they do photos is brilliant. They just bought out a photoshop alternative (to compete with Instagram) and they'll be introducing that soon. Its nice to have cloud backup for free as opposed to Dropbox that limits me (although my dropbox is at 75gb and I'm not close to filling it)
Honestly I'm doing something I've vow'd I'd never do and that is paying $5 a month to Google for 100gb...I just really like having everything under one umbrella (even though right now I'm spaced out over about 2TB worth of umbrellas)

The Google Drive is awesome. I use Dropbox for work and the G-Drive for personal.

I haven't done much on G+ but being so far out of the Liberty bubble, I'd appreciate a place to chat during games!

Schorcho, why not take the G+ API and make a embedded hangout here on FF!?!?!

Yeah, the way G+ does photos is phenomenal. They're taking away Flickr users on a substantial level. The first conference that G+ had enough interest to organize was a photography conference back in May. I've been told that Facebook almost immediately copied their photo layout once it became popular.
There were some bumps in the road early on, but G+ is the only social site I use largely because they're doing a great job of integrating it with their other services and I no longer have to sift through the myriad of nonsense status updates/Farmville schlock that overran Facebook.

I actually dig the instant upload feature as well.

My only problem with the auto upload feature is that I take a lot of pictures on my phone for work. Now I've got pictures of displays and signage that I really don't need cluttering up my G+ account. I could delete them, I guess, if I wasn't too lazy and hardly ever went there.

Well you could "publish" the only photos you want to keep to a circle that is only you or an album that is only viewable by you...then you have them all and they are filtered down to what you want.
I never get mad because they offer me to many to select from, i would be mad when there is one that I need and its not there any more.

This would allow you to talk to us while sitting on the couch.
