They've pulled off great upsets (FSU last year) but struggle against teams like (gulp) Duke consistently. I think if we keep it close leading into the 3rd and 4th quarter, we may be able to pull off an upset.
Liberty 24
LU Passing Yards 145
I think we hang with them for 2 1/2 quarters but a couple key stops for the Demon Deacon defense put this one in the loss column for the boys from Lynchburg

BJWilliams wrote:we havent been shutout since 2005. I dont think we win but I also dont think we put up a goose egg either. The Wake Forest defense is going to be above average in the ACC. I doubt that Wake will shut out Liberty when it's all said and done, but I do think the Flames could struggle to score on the first-team defense, especially with two different QB's and a bunch of question marks on offense.

Our defense is talented, but it's going through a scheme change and gave up 27 or more to 5 FCS opponents last year, in a system they knew, and Gill's KU defenses were atrocious (11 games of 40+ points against in 24). With all the change, and a WF team that only needs to establish a running game to have a good offense this year, we'll be lucky to keep this close for very long. Our best chance to score may be the return game.

Too many question marks on offense, the starting RB is out and if the defense has to stay in most of the game, they're going to be tired pretty quickly.
Sorry to bring the rain cloud in.

It pains me to say this. I'd love to be wrong. My wife, my son and I will be there doing what we can do to cheer on the Flames.

Many of you are picking a bigger spread than West Virginia and NC State games? We have made it a habit in the past 4 years to play this opening FBS game very tough. Did anyone predict a 13 point spread against WV and 22 at NC State?
Guys....its Wake Forest, weren't they 6-7 last year? C'Mon man... They don't win by more than 20 points.
WF - 28
Liberty - 17
