This isn't about the actual game so don't get onto me for looking ahead.

Is anyone going to this game? I'm asking everyone I know and no one will give a definite answer. I would drive by myself but I drive a Jeep and get 14.5 miles per gallon and that would cost way too much. I'd love to have a big car pool from LU on Saturday morning and all pull into Towson together. If anyone knows people that are going, point them my way. I can at least be somewhat entertaining on the ride.

Ok, I did a little bit of research. Gas in Lynchburg right now is $2.49. I'm basing all of my gas prices a little high to be on the conservative side. I just threw in three numbers for miles per gallon to figure out how much it would cost to go to the game.

From Liberty University to Towson University it is 236.87 miles.

In a car that gets 22 miles per gallon it will cost 28 bucks to get there at $2.60/gallon. The round trip will cost $56. With four people in the car it will cost $14 per person, plus ticket, plus food. A 16 gallon tank will make it halfway back on one tank. Gas is cheaper here than it would be in Maryland probably.

In a car that gets 25 miles per gallon it will cost 25 bucks to get there at $2.60/gallon. The round trip will cost $50. With four people in the car it will cost $12.5 per person, plus ticket, plus food. A 16 gallon tank will be able to make it 90% of the way back on one tank. Gas is cheaper here than it would be in Maryland probably.

In a car that gets 30 miles per gallon it will cost 21 bucks to get there at $2.60/gallon. The round trip will cost $42. With four people in the car it will cost $10.50 per person, plus ticket, plus food. A 16 gallon tank will make it on one tank of gas. Gas is cheaper here than it would be in Maryland probably.

At most the tickets will be ten bucks, then however much someone would want to spend on food. You're looking at getting out at $27-$30 for the trip and that's on the expensive side. Assuming gas stays the same it'd be like $11.67 (round up to $12) for a car with 25 mpg. Tickets are more than likely around 8 bucks so you're at $20 in transportation and game. Eating is where you'd spend the rest of the money.

Maybe two or three years ago. Last year about this time I took my girlfriend home to PA from here and gas was $3.01 here in the 'Burg.

I know gas has gone down, but like I said, I wanted to play it conservative. I'd rather plan to spend more than I actually do than not plan for enough.

Gas this time last year was around $3.25 at the beach because of Katrina.

It's either gonna be $30 with 4 people or $100 by myself. I don't know which one it'll be yet. Everyone I've asked has said no.

One thing that I did want to mention was this:

I do know that the Flames Club is doing their first ever Flames Fans Tent or something like that at this game. For $30 you get a ticket to the game and catered food. That's a heck of a deal, especially if you're in the area. However, as a college student working a less than stellar job selling shoes for 7 bucks an hour, I can't afford that. That's why I broke it down like I did. I don't want people thinking I'm not supporting what the athletic department is doing. I just have to do what I can financially. The main reason I say this is because someone somewhat came down to me in the Wake game thread where I said to buy hill tickets and move later. I just wanted to clarify I support the department in theory and what they are planning, my wallet just can't support it.

i didnt mean this exact date last year, before katrina hit and gas went up that high, maybe julyish. what makes me mad though is how gas is so cheap here compared to the fact its still around $3 a gallon in chicago area.

Towson is only about an hour and a half from me but I got tickets to take the wife and kids to Cleveland that weekend to watch the Tribe and Twins. Wish I had checked the football schedule prior to scheduling our Cleveland trips this year. I am already in for Bill and Mary and may be headed to Wake as well so you guys can pick up the slack for Towson.

Tickets are $12. For anyone under 17 they're $6. There's a $3 handling fee so it may be best to get tickets when you get there or do will call.

I am going to get their about an hour early just to look around and maybe I will search out the LU faithful. Now that the so called preseason is over with it is time to start playing some good competition. Looking forward to the game and a possible win. This might effect my decision to go to homecoming.
