Lakeland quarterback Zach Super was on a fast track last fall when he took over the reins for the Cavaliers. Super missed football in his sophomore season due to a transfer from King’s Fork, but he was ready to revive Lakeland in his junior year. Zach suffered a season ending knee injury just a few games into the season and saw his junior year derailed. His weekend visit to Old Dominion was the beginning of a campaign to get his recruitment on track.

Super had enough junior season highlights to put together a good reel of impressive plays. Zach has an impressive arm, throws with accuracy and is good on his feet. Lakeland went on to have a playoff season; their best since rising up from Group AA back in the 1990′s.

Stitt and Cutler have plans to go to the New York regional while Super plans to make a trip down to Atlanta for the Southeast regional. For Zach, it’s an honor to be selected, but he still plans to make the most of the experience.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Super said. “I’m the first quarterback from Suffolk ever selected, so it’s big for me. I’m going with my father and my coaches. I feel that I will get a lot out of it. There have been a lot of great quarterbacks from this area to go (to this event) such as Phillip Sims and E.J. Manuel.”

Super is right. He gets the honor of being the first to represent Suffolk at the Elite 11. Zach’s showcase in Atlanta falls on Friday, April 20.
