You can sure tell when the kids go on spring break around here. Would any of the soccer girls be good kickers? Or how about the girls hockey team? I bet those girls are tough.

Of all our female athletes, Avery probably has the combination of size, strenth and athleticism which would come closest to enabling her to play FCS football. Having said that, it's not very close........ to making the team, let alone starting. She's 6'3", and I would guess about 175. Skinny wide receiver size, or maybe a tall DB. I gaurantee we have D-linemen who could easily beat her in the 40. Maybe even Asa. Does anyone think she could get open against Walt Aikens or cover Summers or Kelly? Tackle Aldreakis? Not gunna happen.

Oldflame,
There is NO way Asa could beat Avery in the 40 except if being chased by police !

Now, drop a couple of nickel bags in his pockets, turn on a siren and he can run the 40 in 4.0 EASY !

Guys - You might want to recheck the rules in the thread at the top of this forum. I get that there is an attempt at humor here. But let's stay away from the personal shots.

Yes..there are rules......
1) If you speak the truth about someone on this board, but it is viewed as negative ....... you are banned from FlameFans.
2) If you commit felonies and you are a 6'9 390 lbs....... you play football at LU and everyone (including administration) tries to deminish your criminal behavior !
Those are the rules ....got it?

though there have been quite a few chuckles the last few days (Purple is hilarious as usual), I think this is what Sly means:

You can kinda get away with this kind of stuff if you're kinda funny about it, but you are just wildly unsuccessful.

Don't know about "starting" but Warley could line up at WR and be a threat.

OK, I will try to be politically correct in my response to this, and give you a hypothetical situation.
Let's say we have a young man trying out for our football team as a walkon.
He has never played competitive football.
He is 6'3" tall and 180 pounds dripping wet.
He can't jump high enough to dunk a basketball.
He can't bench one rep at 225.
He can't break 5 flat in the 40.
What would you think his chances would be to "line up at WR and be a threat?
With all of these measurables given for a male, can you think of one benefit that merely being a female would give a person in this situation?

I was 6-0,weighed 185, and could only bench about 175, but I could get open and catch passes.

Was that at the FCS level, and if so, how old were you when you started playing organized football? Look at the guys we have playing WR. They are all fast, strong and athletic, and for the most part have played football since they were 10 years old. There is a huge difference between playing a limited-contact sport against other women and playing a violent sport against men.
Our WBB team, like most, recruits a male practice squad from the student body consisting basically of former HS scrubs. They do it to give the ladies a chance to challenge themselves against players who are stronger and more athletic than they are. We have lots of FB players who are much too good for that squad. They played BB in HS, and were anything but scrubs. Summers was all-state in Florida.
