Bumping this thread to see if anyone knows where Zac ended up after being ruled ineligible. Is he enrolled at LU, or did he go the prep school or JUCO route?

I was thinking about him the other day. I noticed kris wilson is on the roster now and listed as redshirt frosh. I thought lang said he was ineligible and off the team. It would be nice to have both of these kids in the fold. Was zac wes scotts cousin or something? Maybe forbidden can help us out if i havent gotten confused

Yes, Zac is Wes' cousin. But I haven't heard anything about him in quite some time.

Same type deal as Wilson who was at Liberty all year, but Wilson is now eligible. That's why he's on the roster. Parker hasn't got there yet, so he's not listed. Also can't practice with the team during spring ball. I am hearing he's on pace to be eligible by the fall, obviously depends on how this semester goes though.

Number one KR and PR. I went back and watched the clips. Glad this guy got his grades together, and as mentioned in another thread, This would be such a nice surprise this season if he does what the coaching staff thinks he can. Naming him the number one KR and PR above Gabe and DJ is a big vote of confidence.

Agreed. That was the biggest thing that jumped out to me with the updated depth chart. Looking forward to see how Zac contributes this year. Also, kudos to him for working hard the past year to get eligible. Plenty of kids would have quit and gone home.

The fact that he has moved ahead of all the veteran players as a returner as a total newcomer who hasn't played or practiced football for over a year speaks to a lot of raw talent. Makes you wonder how good he can be in the slot once he learns the system. Not likely he would move ahead of Henderson, but he can give us somewhat more of a home run hitter and could be a real handfull in 4 and 5 receiver sets.

As I said in another discussion, having a potential gamebreaker back there on kicks and punts really can help us in the field position game because teams are going to have to respect his speed. Give him one or two big returns and teams will be kicking away from him, which means better potential starting places for the offense

Could be. Or it could be that we don't have enough talented veterans to play special teams and offense or defense.

My thinking was that DJ & Gabe were too valuable to the offense to throw back there unless we had no other quality options. Thankfully it appears that we do.

We don't have enough explosive veterans to also use them on return duties. Our best veteran candidates for return duty would be Peterson, Henderson, or Abnar. They're the lynchpins of the offense. I think that its a good idea to give the athletic young guys incentive to get playing time (evidently Parker won out) and save the veterans for offense/defense.

There is danger in that they might not perform as well (poss. fumbles/muffs), but they are expendable.

We didn't hesitate to use either of our starting cornerbacks to run back kicks the last couple of years and Henderson, who is a starter, is listed as the other KR guy. Kickoff returns especially provide too good an opportunity for a big play to not use your most explosive athletes. If it's a push you might give the edge to the non-starter, but if he is clearly better, the starter needs to do double duty. In the case of your punt returner, being able to judge the punt, get under it and catch it cleanly is at least as important as speed and elusiveness. A solid guy who can get to pretty much every punt and catch it in the air can probably save you more field position over a season than a speedster who lets the ball hit the ground and roll too often or even worse drops one now and then will gain back with running ability. For that, there is no substitute for experience fielding punts. I believe Parker did a lot of it in HS.
