Me and my friends met coach Gill at the basketball game tonight. He came into the stands to hang out with the student body. He is genuine and awesome!! Good hire.

Gee. A coach involved with the students ? Being accessible. He better watch out or students might start showing up to his games in the fall!

I also saw a tweet last night, where he was standing in line to purchase tickets after turning down free tickets. #respect

IMO I'd say Gill's already one of the most respected men on campus.

I work the basketball games for marketing and when I went to go get Coach Green for the presentations during the time outs Coach Gill stopped his conversation to say hi to me. I have met him several times before and he apologized for not remembering my name and asked how I was. The more I meet this man the more I am blown away. He never seems fake to me and I can tell you when Gill said he wanted to hang out with the students during the game the higher ups were blown away.

Nothing wrong with any of that stuff. I'm also impressed with Turner so far, and his first recruiting class looks very promising. Endearing himself to the student body could well translate into a higher level of support for the football games next fall, which is good, but................................................... since I'm an alum/fan who lives overseas and will not have the privilege of hanging with him at basketball games, I'll hold off on saying he is a "stud" until I see him on the sidelines in our first FCS playoff game!

I don't think anyone had questions about Gill the person. Gill the coach is another matter. 1 winning season in 6 as a head coach isn't anything to hang your hat on. I'm hoping that the success in Buffalo was really that good and that Kansas was just a blip on the radar. Gill can be the nicest, most genuine guy around, but if it ends up that he can't coach then he was a bad hire.

OH, really?

I had always thought that if he was a really nice guy and all the students liked him, we'd win a National Championship.
