Just saw this come across the FCS_Football twitter page:

FCS playoffs expanding to 24 teams? Stay tuned...

This kind of thing give fuel do those who don't want any kind of playoff system at the fbs level. FCS can not continue to water down their playoff system. 8 to 12 teams is perfect. They need to calm down.

Tournament expansion is a good thing. With the # of autobids, it's too easy for a top 15 team in a non-power league to get overlooked at tournament time. While the tournament format is great, fewer than 1 in 6 teams have a shot at making the FCS post-season .. I'm not advocating to water it down like the FBS where most teams go to bowl games .. but it's too limited right now.

Page 6 of the FCS 2011 College Football preview by Phil Steele ranks 126 FCS teams. Twenty four teams in a playoff would only be one out of 5 schoold (4 out of 5 would not make the playoff) I think 24 teams could be good for the FCS, I like the idea of a playoff better than a bowl game. Next year we could make the playoff. If everything goes as planned, we will be in a bowl game in the future. GO FLAMES !

A guy can dream: FCS playoffs in Gill's FIRST year and a DIA bowl game soon after that.

I think FCS should experiment with a system that only allows 2 teams to play in the championship game..O wait..its already being done and completely flawed....haha...

24 Teams would be nice though but people will always left out that said they should have been included...

I like 24, the more the merrier in my opinion! Playoffs>Bowls

Depending on how soon we would be intending to begin FBS play.

Only if we announce that we have joined an FBS league. Announcing our intention to go when not invited wouldn't keep us out.

If we were making the jump for 2013 then yes we would be ineligible this year...if we just announced our intentions and didnt start until say 2014 or 2015, we'd still be eligible this season for the FCS playoffs
