Chris Summers and All-Star Games

I would just like to say that it is an outright travesty that Chris Summers did not make the Shrine Bowl roster. I didn't have high hopes for the Senior Bowl, but I thought Chris was definitely a good fit for the game in Tampa next week. It even ticks me off a little more that Justin Bethel and Josh Norman will be there, after Chris abused both of them for nearly 80 yards each.
I want to call out Flames Nation to tweet @NFLPABowl in hopes that Chris will perhaps get a late invite to the new ASG out in LA. Or perhaps Chris will get a chance in the Little Rock game in February:

I still think he could be a 5th to 6th round sleeper in the draft and become a viable possession receiver and red zone threat at the next level.

He could have been invited but declined, never know. Some agents advise against players playing in a lot of the smaller bowls due to the possibility of being injured. From what I've been told, there are a lot of these bowl games that NFL scouts don't even attend, so it's really not much benefit for the players.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. Most everything that I've heard indicates that Summers should get an invite to the combine. If he does, that will be his chance to showcase his skills.

Totally disagree, not going to the Senior, Shrine, or NFLPA game would be a HUGE mistake for Summers. I wouldn't advise any game beyond these three, but it would be dumb to skip any of the others.
I do draft profile work and I'm credentialed for these bowl games. I'm also for the combine and haven't seen anything come across the table regarding Chris. All three of these games are nationally televised and would help to garner a combine invite. I'd still expect him to get an invite to the combine, but he's on the borderline. I would be shocked if Chris turned down one of these games or if he was advised against doing so.

Wow, this is really disappointing. I still think some team will give Summers a look. I mean who wouldn't want a 6'6" receiver that can catch almost anything thrown at him?

Yes. They would. And they'd invite that player to the combine.

Summers isn't 6'6, most places he's listed at 6'5 and most scouting agencies have him at 6'3 as projected official measurements. I really had him as a 5th-6th prospect, but no one is really showing interest in him right now. I still think he could be a valuable possession receiver and redzone threat in the league, I'd still expect him to get a shot as a UDFA somewhere.
In other news, remember when certain people here dumped on me for being realistic about our pro prospects last May? How is this thread looking now:

It makes me upset how many looks and respect Brian Quick gets. I think him and Chris are very comparable receivers. I'd be interested in how many looks Chris would be getting if he wore an Appy State uniform. Liberty's pro day should be interesting to say the least, you have Summers, Brown at QB/WR/DB, Bevins trying to prove he's healthy, and who knows if Asa will even be allowed to participate?

Why wouldn't he be?

Bevins is on Twitter saying his leg feels great. I hope so as I'd love to see him get a shot.
The Texans starting QB today wasn't even invited to last year's combine. He went up there to throw passes to DBs. Missing out on the Combine is not the kiss of death.

Yates was in the combine last year. He was originally invited just to be an arm to throw to the WR prospects but then after playing in the Texas vs. the Nation All-Star Game he participated in the combine (
http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/tay ... id=2495426). It was actually his interviews at the combine that generated a lot of interest for Yates, he was a UDFA/7th round prospect going in and shot up to the 5th afterwards.
