Does anyone else expect to see a higher-than-normal number of LU football players next year from Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, and upstate New York? :football

Higher than normal based on recent years would be one. So I certainly would expect that could be the case. It appears we are working Florida very hard right now and some kids the staff was chasing in Texas across the Central Region are being giving some attention. Keep in mind that our new staff had been working certain kids for years so they will likely be who they have confidence in offering scholarships.

As for transfers, the rumormill has been decidedly quiet in Lawrence outside of a few kids who want to stay nearby. But that could change at any moment. We have another week until classes start and a few days beyond before add/drop date.

I don't normally comment about my job at Liberty but I thought you guys would find this interesting. When we sort mail, it's cool to see some of the names that show up on here send mail to coaches. Normally I would see a few packages containing game films for various coaches and we would see if we could find information on how "good" that athlete was. Well, since the second day Gill took over, we have been seeing a HUGE increase in video and correspondence being sent in. So much that some of the ladies that work here, who are not into sports, have remarked " Man, that guy is bringing in a lot of mail." I cannot say it enough but there is a big difference in the coaching staff here. They will get things done.

With the recruiting dead period having past a week ago any ideas on when we might start hearing some rumors on who the new staff is targeting? I am assuming that many mentioned on this board were targeted by Rocco and may or may not be guys that fit the new staff's philosophy. Most of the big D-1's are finishing up their signing classes so if we are going to make any noise I would think it would be soon.

I assume you are referring to this kid. If you know him or his family, have them get into touch once again with Coach Skalaski and new Special Teams coach Mike Minter.

I do know that LU recently offered a kicker in Florida. But it cannot hurt to let the new staff know that the kid has an interest in the Flames.

Sly's right...and so is LUconn, if you want the coaches to take a look at somebody, posting on here isnt going to get him any more looks so now that things have calmed down on the coaching front, drop Coach Skalaski a note about him (Im sure his email address hasnt changed from the first two times you posted about him) and Im sure the rest will work itself out from there

In which case logic would normally dictate that we don't need a third opinion on the matter.

Normally.

I would agree with you but I dont think heisrisen is taking this as a normal poster would. Lets hope he takes it to heart, instead of reposting that message.

Easy now. It didn't appear to me that 'risen was expecting coaches to read this board; even so, if he was, as he is a new contributor to the board how about being a little more constructive with your replies.

Go Flames!!!

Skalaski found a kicker in Florida, still in need of punter. Maybe Kacere or McConnell can fill that role? any word on some WRs?

Cider, Nebraska and Kansas are not exactly hotbeds of high school football talent, esp. Nebraska. The population is too small. Expect Gill's staff to recruit in FL, GA, TX, some in CA and along the East Coast. Probably more from the SE than he did at Buffalo.

It's pretty easy to tell where we're going to be recruiting just by looking at the staff. Tons of connections to VA, NC, FL, and TX.

LU needs to go hard after Tony Miller at Gretna and make him an offer. I honestly believe he could help the Flames at the WR position next season as a true freshman..

As has been said already, the coaches arent digging for hot recruiting tips on here, so if you want them to get a look at Tony (I worked with the radio guys for Gretna football and I would agree that he is very good), drop coach Skalaski an email, give some basic information on him and how to get a hold of his coach and go from there.

He is already on the radar screen. I was just voicing my opinion, knowing that lot of WRs expended their eligibility this past season.

I believe they have his info, just stating that i hoped they take a look at THIS kid, certainly don't beleive Division I coaches care like you say about these types of Forums! Also posted because LU rarely recruits much past PA (north). Also becasue the schools looking at him are mainly FCS and would be comparable to LU. If I'm not mistaken coach Rojas was his recruiter, maybe you could help us out... is he still there, because maybe we should resubmit. Ps great site !!!

Coach Minter is the Special team coach now. I have no idea who is assigned the Northeast region on the new staff.

Fish, with all due respect, it appears that you are about half right: I checked the Huskers and the Jayhawks rosters for in-state players, and you might be surprised at what I found:

Kansas University = 17 Kansas players (no surprise)
University of Nebraska = 60+ Nebraska players

Which equals not a recruiting hot bed b/c every, single player goes to Nebraska haha. If you're judging the state of Kansas then Kansas State is probably a better barometer. The Wildcats have 50 players from the state of Kansas.
