It really happened late enough that it's just finding it's way out there. ESPN finally wrote an article on it about an hour ago. Their Big 12 blog had it around 9am. I checked around 3am (Eastern) and there were 14 spots reporting it according to Google News and most of those were blogs within midwestern newspaper sites.

It's now story 8 in the headlines list on the front page of ESPN.com. That's probably the only time LU football has been there. Definitely has the makings of a pretty spectacular story if he does well here.

Honestly, I think it can at least get a mention on something like College Football Live. If the "other" announcement is good enough, it may get pushed to Sportscenter. That's not out of the realm of possibility here.

I've had 5-6 people from back in Neb txt me about our hire (I haven't spoke to many of these people in years). They are all excited for us and think he will do well. It's pretty impressive the name recognition he's brought to LU overnight. Although, the only place he is probably more popular then Neb is Buffalo and now here. Still cool.

Seems Greg Roberts at AM 960 is a Flame Fans lurker.

Roanoke Times reporting basically spewing nonsense, Greg says "well I think they could fit in the MAC or C-USA."

Kind of interesting scanning some of those other boards. One in particular caught my attention, JMU. One comment, Going from a coach with no class to a classy coach, or something to that effect. What did Rocco do to JMU? LU hasn't beaten them in a while have they? I'd would think they'd like the guy.

i saw that too. i think it came in our games with the them where we played undisciplined football, committing a high amount of dumb personal fouls. those are characteristics of a team that reflect poorly on the class of a coach.

Jbock, what did Greg say today, i meant to tune in for a few today but lost track of time. He had a decent piece when rocco left, he usually gives liberty a few minutes when there is news. We advertise on that station as well.

He talked about it for the first 30 minutes. pretty much said it was a good hire. The Roanoke Times guy clearly knew nothing about FCS, it was pretty embarrassing to listen to. That's the most I can remember.

The University of Buffalo board has some nice things to say about Coach Gill:

I think some of us should go over to the Liberty message boards to tell them exactly what they just got in their hire of Turner. Their message board is being overridden by rednecks from Kansas that are bashing the $hit out of Gill and I for one plan on giving them the other side of the story.
