In the pouring down rain, freezing cold, was the best turnout I've ever seen for a Flames game. It was incredibly loud the whole game and most people stayed until the end.

One of the best times I've had at an LU athletics game ever.

wasn't quite the best turnout i have seen....homecoming games always pretty much fill the place....but this by far was the most vocal football crowd i have been a part of, this being my 4th year around here.....imagine if the weather was nice, i think the turnout would've been great with fans on the hill....but i was very pleased with the turnout.....i hope it continues to get better

I agree with thepostman. The atmosphere was great :D . If the weather was better then the attendance would have been better.

Having 4000-5000 students stay the entire game in the rain is amazing.

Yeah I don't think it could get any better than it did tonight. More people could be there, the paying attendees could get off their rears a little more...but all things considered, I think it was pretty awesome. If anything, everyone coming in the rain made more of a statement than if the stadium had been filled in good weather. The students certainly did their part to ring in a new era of LU Football. You guys were great!

The only sections empty in this picture are the Visitor's section and the section where the band was sitting. They were out getting ready for halftime.

Cool pic, any closeups of the action? BTW, are they using the same helmet graphic from last year or have they updated it to the red version with white infill and border (like the centerfield logo)?Listened to the second half on audio, what was the post game centerfield fight song thing like?

the game was awesome, but it was kinda dissappointing looking across the field at the empty stands on libertys side. but from what i could see the student side was on their feet the whole time

Didn't get many pictures. Didn't want to risk messing up the ole digital as the rain increased.

yeah good idea on KFC's part, except for the fact that kids were throwing them around the audience all crazy like. i dont think that is in the liberty way. it would have been acceptable had i gotten some of the wings with chicken on them. im also mad that they only have one window open on the student side for liberty one card. its the student side, obviously everyone is going to be using the Lone card. i waited in line a half hour for it while the other lines had no one in them. good thinking liberty

I could not have been more proud of our student section. I was on the home side and looking across at that sea of red in those conditions even into the 4th quarter was just inspiring! If we had 8K in attendance, I'd say 7,000 of that was students.
Now, we just need to work on the "seat backs". Nothing quite like hearing the announcer yell out, "That's another Liberty..." followed by dead silence.

First off, the KFC was for the Student Flames Club. We had extras and gave some of it away. Obviously some people decided to be idiots so the student body can thank them for not getting anymore free food outside of the SFC. That was a lawsuit waiting to happen.

As for the announcer, we did the "And that's another...first down" on our side but I led it. We couldn't hear him so it didn't really matter what he was saying.

Here they are. I haven't cropped any or tried to touch them up any. I just wanted to get them up here.

great job by the students. they really turned it up a notch. someone get a memo to the PA announcer...when he says and that is another flames first down, he needs to say "first down" to educate the fans, because it was sporadic on the press box side, and as SJ said, if they could not hear it, kinda hard to do it in unison.

I really think the wind and weather had a lot to do with the ineffective PA system last night. Typically, from my vantage point during the game, I can hear everything and I mean everything in the stadium. There's some sort of acoustic anomaly in Williams that sends every sound from the PA to the calls on the field to conversations in the stands right at me. Last night, the only thing I could hear was the wind. That's the first time I've been to a game in that stadium where the rain was falling up.

sorry for the poor quality pics- I normally do much better. I will try to edit some of those this weekend and get you some closeups. The freaky demon-eyes on the scoreboard was matched in weirdness only by the peace-dove with the olive branch in its beak. What the....

That's cool, I hope they establish that as a tradition also. Perhaps they could add a siren hit too.

More traditions are great.

Let's not forget the marching band!! Being a band geek myself in my opinion, a college football game is just not the same without the band. I was soooooooo impressed with "The Spirit of the Mountain". They risked ruining their instruments, they sounded great despite the downpour of cats and dogs. Thanks SOTM and Dr. Kerr!!!! Great job!!

That's on eof the best fan pics I've ever seen. I can see that one in the 07 media guide. I assume you're in it somewhere. Front & center?
