How Is the Locking of Threads Determined?

There are so many irrelevant threads.......but I am told that the relevancy determines if and when a thread is locked.

I have seen countless postings about Danny Rocco and his tenure at LU. In fact, there is a thread entitled "It's time for a new coach".

I have also seen much discussion (wish) about the potential for Mike Rocco leaving UVA and coming to LU.

However, when I start a poll that simply asks if given the choice.....would someone prefer Danny Rocco as coach for the flames or Mike Rocco as QB......the thread is locked and called dumb and irrelevant.

How was this thread more slanted than the thread..."It's time for a new coach"?

Seems like a thread is locked when certain people simply do not agree with the content !!!

Where's the free speech? Liberty folks should believe in the constitution...right?

Thank God someone finally said something about this. Some of the people on this board try to cover their stupidity or agenda by pointing out grammatical errors in others, or simply locking threads.

Furthermore, the ignorance on this board is ridiculous. If you're anti-UVA, anti-Big-South, anti-Rocco prepare to be foed or ridiculed. I'm pretty positive that most of the people on here have conservative views, which is funny because 85% of the people here are completely narrow-minded. Give them one good piece of common sense and get ready to be shot down because you propose change. Propose that Liberty deserves better than the Big-South and should be an FBS team despite wins/losses or student attendance, and you'll be called idiot.

I'll put money that this thread is locked before midnight.

It wasn't about being slanted. It was because the question was so stupid that it didn't need to be a poll question.

How is the question of which Rocco would do more for LU stupid.....I think it is a perfectly legit question. Again....many people are talking about coach leaving and Mike Rocco coming. ....So what's wrong with asking people which they would rather have?

Please don't confuse being satisfied with the status quo as being a good fan.

I AM NOT SATISFIED !!!

I WANT SOME CHANGES AND I THINK THAT MAKES ME A BETTER FAN THAN MOST OF YOU !!!

Honestly, you think that's stupid? There is a thread about Danny Rocco leaving entitled, "It's time for a new coach." There is another thread about Mike Rocco transferring. That's not dumb, it's simply a way of proposing a hypothetical situation and seeing how fans feel. Everyone knows that, that would never happen, and if you honestly believe that anyone thought it would, you need to go back to your mom's basement and heat up a couple more hot-pockets.

Oh, I could add "asking if Roccgroh" is out there as another common way many users try to cover their stupidity.

Haha trying to bait me? Not gonna work :D

Apparantly "Roccgroh" is a user that said some things that some of the "elitist" on this board could not stomach and therefore I'm sure his posts are ignored, locked or whatever ....

What are you guys so afraid of ? Are you afraid to find out how many fans are not happy with the direction of the football program......Which is a fast train going NOWHERE !!!

Are you afraid to find out that many LU fans think about as much of the coaching staff as they do this dumb message board ?

What is it?

Yeah, well if that were the rule, most of the users on this message board lived by, this board would be really really empty.

Okay you got me... I give up... I'm happy with the football team never succeeding. The first thing I do when we lose other than cheer is fire up FF.com

Dang it, how did you know? You're a genius my friend! :D

Dude, none of us are happy about having an under-achieving football program. The reason we get on here is so we can voice our frustration of knowing that we could be better, while the team is still sucking. We didn't have one good win this season while everyone is still making this season out to be great. We're good enough to reel in the top recruits in the state, most of us on here have donated to the program, yet we still can't accomplish a very achievable goal. The worst part about it is that if you get on here and criticize people or propose solutions, you're instantly called an idiot or stupid. Or someone will tell you how unqualified you are because of a misspelling. Everyone on here says that they want to be successful but they act like they're content with losing.

The slogan for the team ...I think 5 years ago was "GOOD TO GREAT"....Where's the greatness?

Next year we should go with "Mediocre to More Mediocrity"

A. Go to any other major college board in the country and the same kind of crap happens, if not worse. Suck it up.
B. You are only upset because you make faulty arguments and people call you out on it. People do that to jbock all the time and you don't see him whining about how terrible the people who run this board are.
C. That reminds me, do you ever stop whining!!!??? Seriously your whining is why people ignore you, not your opinions. People make opinions on here all the time people disagree with. Its not those opinions that people find unbearable, it is the way you present those opinions that rubs people the wrong way.

Its obvious that ff4e and sweaty are working in coordination. I was just in a mood for laughs last night so I decided to see how far this would go.

Like postman said, plenty of people disagree with me but they at least respect my right to say how I feel. That's all I can ask for.

Lastly, its a message board. Nobody cares if your little feelings get hurt.

The locking of threads is extremely rare here on FlameFans. Most are locked due to being dated in nature such as game threads once we move into the postmortem threads here in the football board. Repetitive threads are sometimes locked or merged.

Frankly it is exceedingly uncommon in our 5-year history for threads to be locked simply due to content. We are very adverse to shutting down dissenting views here as evidenced by the coaching thread mentioned above.

Careful. You might hurt his feelings and then be called an elitist! He is home schooled a VT AND Duke fan which obviously means that not only is he of superior intellect and reasoning but able to relate to the common man! "The only thing I'm afraid of" ... is that the board is dominated by "a few" with a negative agenda when it come to LU football, and that the "larger silent majority" that lurk here will not participate because of it?

That's to bad?

Who's fault is that? Anyone can claim to speak for a silent majority. How about they show some fortitude and post. If you don't speak up don't expect special privileges.

Just act like you know some scheduling rumors, but don't tell anyone. Then when the schedule comes out say, "I told you guys!". That's how you become a heavy hitter here.
