I know are chances would be super slim. However, is the 7 D1 wins a rule or more of a guideline? The announcers seemed to think that the loser still had some technical chance.

The theme of this season was ALMOST.
  • We almost beat James Madison
    We almost beat Lehigh
    We almost lost to Presby
We almost got into the playoffs
Next season we need to eliminate the almosts. No almost winning big games. No almost losing to teams we should beat. And we need to do whatever it takes to get to that point.

We're not making the playoffs. Absolutely, positively, 100% not.

We're too good for the conference we haven't won in 3 years, right? Can't wait to see the meaningless rings the players get this year. Ring pops anyone?

I'm tired of the facade- the inflated attendance numbers, the fake rings, the meaningless themes, the ethical loopholes and the excuses every year for why we can't reach our goals.

Changes need to be made. The type of change is debatable. I'll take a philosophy change over PR firings any day.

The OL really needs to get better. They didn't seem to progress during the season.

I would like to see the offense go with a somewhat more traditional running attack next year with a new QB taking over and Allen really developing well at RB.

Defense is a dumpster fire as a unit but has some talent at spots.

The defensive side of the coaching staff needs to be revamped and the offense needs someone who protects the ball well. Put those things together and the next step gets taken.

I do want to see what Rocco and company can do recruiting to the new facilities. Last year was a very good first recruiting year with the new digs.

Let's see how willing Rocco is to allow changes to the staff before trying to run him out of town. He's clearly the best football coach LU has had. If he's stubborn about things, then start identifying legitimate options to replace him after next year.

Like I said, I know we won't. I'm just curious as to if the 7 D1 wins is a rule or a guideline.

It's a guideline. That has never been broken. Even last year, when there were 2 perfectly good options to use to break the guideline (JMU and Montana).

This may be the post of the year. +1. Right up there with Mallet's "keeping your pee pee out of the animals" post.

I made this point in the game postmortem and I will make it here: If we see any changes in the coaching staff (and I suspect there will be...at least there better be), itll be on the defensive side. We can roll up points with the best of them, the problem is that we cant stop anyone when we need to.

some changes need to me made. plain and simple. I would be happy with new coordinators personally, I find it amazing we could not make defensive adjustments. im tired of the season themes, the "we have better talent crap", the money we spend on football to get a bunch of almosts! the clock started on Rocco last year when the automatic bid started and now he is 0-2. i also do not want to hear about jumping up to FBS when we cant even win at the FBS level. im just ticked and i will be cool off before church tomorrow but dadgumit, this is ridiculous.

I thought Rocco said this was his best team?

I am a Rocco guy. I think he's a great Head Coach. But I find myself wondering how many times this can happen before it's too many times. He's won a buttload of Big South championships. Which is cool. And makes him well "decorated". But do we even care about the Big South Championship at this point? I mean, it's bascially necessary to win the championship to get into the playoffs out of the Big South so it's important in that regard. But it's like your first $1 on your way to making a million. Obviously you can't get to a million without 1, but do you really care about a dollar? Despite the amazing record of the past 5 or 6 years, this program feels like a loser. I expect them to win... every game except the one that gets them to the playoffs. And I pretty much know they're going to lose. I hate to bring up Dunton (I really do hate to do that on this site) but he got the axe basically for choking every year.

Agreed. I didn't really mean everyone is safe in that thread. I was mainly referring to Rocco.

I agree with almost everything in this statement except the part about the conference. Moving up to FBS isn't so much about wins as it is about exposure and money. The numbers of wins won't and shouldn't have a huge influence on LU's decision to move up, or another conference's decision to invite them.

That wasn't directed to the case for moving up. We need to move up when we get the opportunity. I just wish Danny Rocco and his boys applied that idea to the Big South Standings.

Thank you all who have been using Doc's famous quote.

"If it's Christian, it ought to be better."

This should guide us going forward in everything we do.

I don't want to muck up this thread with off topic things, but I don't think anybody on this board has ever said a single time that LU is "too good for this conference" unless it's one of you saying it sarcastically mocking the people that want out.
