Football team WILL practice on new turf today

Just received word that the team's been cleared to practice in Williams Stadium today. There are still 2 layers of rubber to apply, 1 layer of sand, and a top dressing, but it's far enough along to practice on.

shouldnt they be applying that instead of practice?

Not sure, but I think the heat of the day is not the time to put down the materials. Hence, the night-time schedule to date. If the install crew and JB think it's okay, I trust em.

I think if the guys practice on it, then the rest goes down tonight, and the guys practice on it tomorrow it'll be good.

Rocco confirmed this on the Big South coaches conference call. Tomorrow's practice will just be a walkthrough.
