The summer is a time for camps and combines, and while each stage in the recruiting process is vital as far as building relationships and talent evaluation, it's an especially important time for high school quarterback prospects. Schools are often very picky about who they offer at the quarterback position and many coaches insist that they evaluate quarterbacks in person before offering them.

One quarterback that is emerging on NC State's radar at the position is Caleb Rowe, a 6-3, 200-pound passer from Greer (SC) Blue Ridge.

"Coach Bridge has actually come to the school twice and he called me during that time when coaches are allowed to call you once," Rowe explained. "I’m going to their camp on Friday, I think."

It will be Rowe's first trip to NC State and he's excited about the opportunity to work out for the coaches and hopefully earn an offer. There are no guarantees but he believes he can make an impression.

"I know a little bit about them," Rowe said. "I've done a little research. I really like NC State a lot. It's a good football program that seems to be doing real well. I've read a little bit about their head coach and I like what I've seen from them. They're at the very top of my list and one of my favorites."

So far the only school Rowe has visited is Middle Tennessee, another school that is showing serious interest. The Blue Raiders made him feel at home.

"I thought that was really good. Their facilities are really nice and the coaching staff is pretty cool. I got to talk to them a little bit," he said.

In addition to NC State, Rowe plans on camping at Wake Forest, Clemson, Maryland, South Carolina and Liberty.

Rowe passed for 2,680 yards and 27 touchdowns last fall. He threw just four interceptions.
