Chase Griffiths, who played in one game in two seasons at USF, said Monday he will play this fall at Division I-AA Liberty in Lynchburg, Va.

Griffiths, from North Florida Christian in Tallahassee, will be able to play immediately this fall with three years of eligibility for the Flames. He'll return to linebacker, the position he played in high school and during his redshirt year at USF before moving to fullback last year.

Interesting. I wonder how he’ll factor into the depth chart this year. We definitely need help at LB. I’m not sure how much the LB depth chart was figured out during Spring ball. We know we have Vinson at the Adjuster, Connolly/Ward at the Drop, but the 2 MLB spots were up for grabs. I guess we’ll throw this guy into the mix with Fath, O’Grady, Sigmon, Jenkins.

Can never have enough depth at LB. Great pickup for the Flames!

also need to add Nick Martin into the mix. He is a walk on and played last year at mike LB behind Doncel and Chad. He was moved to Drop this spring behind D Ward and was second on the blue team with 6 tackles in the spring game.

Always interesting to see players transition to the 3-4. I wonder if he'll be an ILB or OLB.

I've been told he will play an ILB position.

This will be probably be the most interesting competition on the defensive side of the ball, especially with this guy coming in.
