Miami (FL) Herald wrote:WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: By the end of the 2011 season, this could be Florida's all-time passing yardage and TD leader, and 80 percent of the Sunshine State has never heard of Shashaty, a quarterback who is accurate and very competitive.

While many quarterbacks have stronger arms, may weigh more and compete against bigger and more athletic opponents, this is a talent who has risen above the stereotypes and has quietly made a mad dash toward the record books and getting colleges to give him a look.

Because is so thin, and his arm isn't as powerful as many colleges would like, this is someone you project with. Over the next few years, he has a chance to be at least 6-2, 200, which will only add to his already mounting resume.

In addition to being one of the players that coaches will keep an eye on during the spring, summer and into the season for football - colleges across the country have already been courting him for his tremendous work in the classroom.

This kid looks like a passer that can run when he needs to. I particularly like how he can throw accurately while he's on the run to either side. To see a kid roll out to the left and throw with his right accurately is a good sign. Not only that but it appears he can run the option pretty well too. Nebraska anyone?

Google his name and he is that all time passing leader for Broward County Fl, not the state.

Looks like a strong pickup - appears that he was under the radar due to the school he was playing for and his size; but his results are impressive - he was top passing qb in the county, amongst the top in the state for his career, won the Mastrole Super Select QB camp by beating out 50 top prospects across the state and was stellar against county public school all-star competition pulling out the win and being named offensive MVP. It was also interesting to note that he had the fastest shuttle time in the Super Select QB competition ..

Wild Bill is going to give this kid such a hard time for being so skinny. He probably hasn't lifted a weight in his life and he is headed into the Lion's Den of weight rooms. Good luck, kid!

Plus, the freshman 15 will hit him in a heartbeat once he finds the LU cafeteria.

Usually it's fear OF the cafeteria that causes you to eat elsewhere thus the Freshmen 15!

Javan tweeted a picture of his dad's old football jersey from when he was at Liberty (LBC). Surprised none of you old-timers picked up on the name - "Shashaty" isn't something you hear every day.

My dad found his old Liberty jersey. I guess you could say..... I'm going into the family business. ‪#familytradition

I remember Guy Shashaty. He was a backup to Kelvin Edwards and Fred Banks back in 82. Good possession receiver for them. I remember he had a great game vs Jacksonville State in a losing effort.

When something pre-dates Medic & I, you know it is serious Old Hag territory. Although I certainly appreciated the Freddy/Special-K references.

And here is the pic of his dad's jersey:
