Possible College Football Split?

I was surfing around the championshipsubdivision.com website last night and I saw this post based off an article that got me thinking.

If Liberty doesn't make some drastic conference changes are we just going to be swept up under the I-AA rug? If something like this happens, it could possibly send in to a proverbial black hole with our other BSoC mates. I know this is just one persons opinion but the progression seems possible. Maybe I'm just over reacting...

I wouldn't sweat this at all. Could something like this occur? Sure. Would we be left out in the cold in the aftermath? Not likely. Our investment in athletikcs the past five years has positioned us nicely should there be such a monumental shift. Keep in mind that not everyone involved in CAA or SoCon would want to step up into new I-A/FBS world. And we are unquestionably the most attractive program among the lesser FCS leagues.

Honestly I do see a point where the BCS leagues break away. But I don't see it going down quite as stated in the story. If schools are leaving FBS it is out of undeniable greed. And that doesn't lend itslef to generously inviting anyone else to the party that isn't necessary. Notre Dame would fall into the necessary category but would probably align with a league like Big Ten or XII anyway for football.
