Lynchburg, Va.

With just two days left in training camp, the football program took a day off from practice to host its annual media day on Sunday at Williams Stadium.

The afternoon’s event started with a press conference in the press box and the event drew a larger crowd of media than in years past. Coach Rocco addressed the media, followed by a question-and-answer section with Rocco and team captains Rashad Jennings (So., RB), Jason Horn (Sr., DL), Manny Rojas (Sr., LB) and Jarrett Winfrey (Sr., OF).

Following the press conference, the rest of the day’s festivities took place down on the field, which included taking of the 2006 team photo and several group and individual photos.

The installation crew that has been installing the new FieldTurf took the afternoon off, allowing for the team photo to been taken in front of the new Williams Football Operation Center. Click here to view a thumbnail version of the team photo.

The Flames will resume practice tomorrow afternoon at 2:20 p.m. at the practice field behind the Hancock Athletic Center, while the team will host its final training camp practice with a scrimmage on Tuesday (also at 2:20 p.m.).

Following their scrimmage session on Tuesday, the Flames will take Wednesday afternoon off for the first day of classes at the University. Liberty will begin to implement its game plan for its season-opener against St. Paul’s (August 31 at 7 p.m.) with its practice on Thursday.

Thursday’s practice starts at 4 p.m. and will run to 6 p.m. which will be the Flames normal daily practice time. All practice sessions throughout the season are open to the public and will take place at Williams Stadium once the FieldTurf installation is complete.

Haha ... I'm afraid not, seeing as Flamefans.com doesn't pay my salary. :)

That's funny Medic. If I had actually asked a question I would have used that title

Of course, nothing in the on-line edition of the N&A, today.

It was the only press conference in recent memory to ever be shut off for lack of time.

A.G. -- nothing was written because nothing really newsworthy came out of it. A lot of the same stuff that has been said since the beginning of camp. Expect two stories on Wednesday and maybe something in Tuesday's paper.

We were going to have something had a QB been named, but that won't happen for a couple of days now. Expect something after the last scrimmage of the "training camp" portion of practice Tuesday.

Nothing was new but it was still fun to listen to the excitement and enthusiasm in Coach Rocco's delivery. He is genuinely excited about this team. It is not a false confidence either IMO. I think he believes in the kids and his philosophy and the competitive spirit and fire with which they will play. It will manifest itself in the first couple of games but it will be really exciting when they play someone that is truly tough to beat like Wake and W&M! But for now, bring on St Paul's!!!
