Brice is looking to transfer to an FCS school so he could have two years of eligibility since he already used up his redshirt year at USC.

Lane Kiffin has granted a scholarship release to WR Brice Butler, according to the player's father, who said, "College football is such a big business ... just like Pete Carroll left last year, we're leaving this year." (AP photo)
Former Atlanta Falcons great Bobby Butler didn’t think his son got a fair chance to play under Lane Kiffin. He strongly supports his son’s decision to transfer from USC.
Brice Butler, who starred at Norcross High, has a promising freshman season at USC but saw his role reduced after the arrival of Kiffin. Butler played in 12 games as a backup wide receiver last season, catching 9 passes for 112 yards and one touchdown.
“He had a new coach with new ideas, and it’s time for Brice to go — it’s the right move,” said Bobby Butler, an NFL DB for 12 seasons (all with the Falcons).

USC junior receiver Brice Butler intends to transfer, he confirmed via text message.
Butler, who did not have a significant role last season and would have faced major competition for playing time in 2011, wrote on his Twitter page Wednesday night:
“Always will be a part of trojan nation! No regrets, I just gotta go play fball, which isn’t happening here. … I love all yall! Always will. … Was not an easy decision but evaluatin my future and what I want to do, it woulda been difficult here at this point so I made my dec“
Butler, who’s from Norcross, Ga., caught only nine passes for 112 yards and a touchdown as a redshirt sophomore in 2010.
He said he likely will transfer to an FCS school, which would enable him to play immediately.
Why are we following this? He apparently is also a fan of a certain emerging star RB for the Jaguars. That can't hurt.

This would be huge. Put him out there with Summers and Kelly and it's a nightmare for any defense, and it would also assure we will be very good at WR for at least 2 more years.

Was Daddy Butler with the Falcons at the same time as Eugene Robinson? If so, there's our connection.

Nope. Butler had retired for a few years before E made it to ATL.
They were in the league at the same time for a few years overlapping.

"I'll be looking at are Georgia State, Liberty, North Alabama, Delaware, Appalachian State, and Portland State," said Butler.

Who's to say we dont have a chance at this kid? He has extremely good hands, natural ability to find space and would make a perfect third option with Pat and Chris...not to mention he knows OF Rashad (and as a result knows of Liberty) and so that can do nothing but help our chances.

How do you know he "knows" Rashad? I can send anyone something on Twitter. That doesn't mean I know them.

We'd have two #1s for arguably the nation's top quarterback to chuck it to every snap.
If you check out his Twitter, you can quickly see why we are seriously under consideration. He sounds like a great fit for us.

Is he allowed to make visits to the schools he likes or anything like that?

Ditto Sly. He'd have to be our #1 or #1A option with Summers, in order to play here more than likely.
On a side note, this would really help free up Summers and our inside receivers. Sometimes I wonder if Summers has NFL potential based on height and body control alone. This addition would help Brown more than anyone though.
If we can improve (not necessarily perfect) our offensive line, running game, and pass defense, we will be looking VERY good heading into the season.

Picking up someone who was at one time a five-star prospect and the #4 WR in the country (#15 overall) coming out of hs would be absolutely awesome for LU. However if he's looking at G-State, Delaware and Appy too, I'll try not to get my hopes up just yet.

This would be huge and all indications are that this guy would be a 1a type receiver for us. Who other than Chris would you put in front of him on a depth chart?

He is probably someone that if he signed with us he would come in and start immediately at WR. having a top 3 that runs 6'5" 6'4" and 6'3" would have the potential to give DB coaches nightmares...

Actually saw him play live in HS. Went to a Norcross game when I was in Atlanta on business. He's really good. Has great hands and looked like a man among boys and his team was very good that year.
Would be a great pickup if we can land him.

He obviously has a reason as to why he would consider coming here...and your apparent inability to master the basics of the English language astounds me if youre a college student...its James Madison...also, he played for the USC Trojans...its not like he is coming from say Wyoming or New Mexico or Ohio or some middle of the road FBS program...he is leaving a program that turns out some pretty legit players (does the name Reggie Bush ring a bell...or Dwayne Jarrett...or Steve Smith...), not to mention, they have 15 receivers on their roster...that's a LOT of guys to try to spread the ball around to...maybe you should do a little more research before opening your mouth (or your computer for what its worth) and making yourself look like any more of an uninformed moron than you already are

This response is for any real person out there who may possibly be buying into this charade. WE SIGNED 5 OF THE TOP 100 HS PROSPECTS IN THE STATE THIS YEAR. That's as many as ODU and more than Richmond or JMU (who didn't sign ANY). Grant Jones is the highest rated Virginia HS player signed by any FCS team in the state.
Is it true that our progam has taken some transfers from FBS schools? Yes, and we have benefited from it. I doubt if any FCS team in the country would have said no to Rashad Jennings or Eddie Pinigas, and they were LOCAL KIDS who grew up within a half hour drive of our campus. If you are going to keep posting this crap, at least make some effort to maintain some similarity between what you type and reality. BTW, that goes for the fake bad grammer and spelling too. Way too over the top to be believable.
