That's the series that we had heard was close to being a done deal back several months ago. But the fact that he has listed an actual date in 2008 indicates to me that they have probably signed the paperwork.

When I spoke with Jeff Barber last week, he said they were working on it, but it wasn't close to being a done deal. I'll be back on campus tomorrow. I'll see if anything has changed.

A reliable source on campus is confirming this IS true, asked NOT to be named because SID hasn't made it official as of yet.
Bottom line- its legit. Glad they broke it first

We used to regularly back in our early I-AA days. By the time 2008 rolls around, I believe we'll ready to do it consistently once again.

Hmmm... maybe the hush-hush because that information is part of something larger... maybe we're playing JMU repeatedly because LU is planning on making a jump into the CAA, and JMU would be a conference opponent...
Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Nah ... admittedly, Paul Rutigliano is much closer to the situation than Jeff is ... in terms of how far along the talking process was. I know that the Harrisonburg paper reported it as a done deal a few months back, and the schools hadn't really hammered out any of the details yet.
So the non-conference in 2008 will feature roadies to Presbyterian, Lehigh, Youngstown State, James Madison and potentially a I-A (or BS -- hi ralph). Elon and William & Mary at home. Now that's a schedule.

Hopefully by 08 I won't be a student anymore. I'd hafta sit on the old people side.

You'll still be early in your journey to being jaded, so you'll still qualify for the student section.

They usually refrain from saying anything until all the contracts are signed.

It's funny reading the two boards. I always thought this was some huge rivalry and all of the JMU fans could care less about LU. I guess it's big on our part and not theirs.

I think it's interesting on their board that they doubt so freely about LU and Lynchburg's ability to grow, and yet they don't seem to be aware of the recent growth at all. I think all of it has happened so fast that a lot of people really are clueless. If all goes well, it could be very fun to see a stealth attack on our part.

The days when we had a budding rivalry were 15-20 years ago. For most on the CAAzone board, they were in diapers back then. We didn't perform well against them in recent years so the past history is fading. But the Old Hag faction here on FlameFans remember those days fondly.
And yes, most of the non-Big South folks are clueless about what we've been doing the past couple of years. All they saw was our results last season. And you have to understand their disbelief as a result.

what is funny is how the youngsters on each board have no clue what a fierce rivalry this was back in the day. i look forward to seeing this rivalry heat back up.
