I don't see any way Taylor doesn't win this, but it's certainly an honor for Mike to be a finalist.

Agree. Taylor had a Phenominal year with more to come.

The article overlooked that Mike also ran for 900+ yards and was the FCS leader in total offense. I hope the decision makers don't overlook that.

Most of America only saw Tyrod performing poorly against Boise State. I'll take your word for him playing much better as the season advanced.

Against Boise Taylor was 15-22 for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns with 93 yards rushing on 16 carries. You could argue he outplayed Moore. Boise won mainly with their ground game. The Hokies couldn't get their backs untracked.

He also had a nationwide audience against FSU in the ACC champinship game, and came up big.

if tyrod taylor was not a finalist i think mike would be the winner, but a huge honor to be a finalist for the dudley award.

If you recall, at halftime and in the 3rd quarter the broadcast crew and the fans were openly expressing displeasure to Tyrod and suggesting somebody else be given an opportunity to sling it. He did have a nice 4th quarter to lead the comeback that ultimately failed.

I agree with smoothie that just being a finalist is a huge honor for an FCS athlete.

2 of the 3 finalists are FCS athletes

sly, UVA had no one worthy to be on the list....not even close. not the first time its happened...the same with the hokies as they have had times without having a finalist. over the years the dudley award has really given much respect to FCS schools. goes to show even though bullet bill was a UVA guy, the award keeps its integrity.

Proud of Mike Brown-finalist for Dudley Award given to top Division 1 football player in Va. First time for an LU player to be named to this award. Banquet tonight in Richmond.

Agree w/ the thought this is Tyrod's award to lose this year. I could have sworn Zach Terrell won something similar to this a few years ago - what award was that?

I'm pretty sure it was a freshman award that Zach won.

The UR QB finished ahead of him? Pfft, please. There obviously was no homecooking in that balloting.

Mike was there.

Balloting was done via poll of sportswriters around the state, including yours truly.

Tyrod Taylor was the obvious choice. There's no way the ACC player of the year doesn't win the Dudley.

I voted Brown second.

I thought the SID article on this said the UR player was a defensive player. I believe a linebacker. Correction?
