LU's Henderson shifts from QB to WR temporarily


Liberty University's Gabe Henderson has shifted from quarterback to receiver this season to fill a void and receive some playing time, as one of the top targets for starting QB Mike Brown.

As Liberty broke training camp in August, Flames coach Danny Rocco brought freshman Gabe Henderson into his office for a chat. The subject: A position change, at least a temporary one.

“He said, ‘We’re going to keep you at quarterback, but we’re short at receiver,’” said Henderson, one of the jewels of the Flames’ 2010 recruiting haul. “The same thing that happened with Mike. I said, ‘I’ll do whatever it takes to get on the field.’”
