When I read this thread I thought you were at the Business Executive Lunch. There was a Q&A with Chancellor Falwell and a former basketball player asked if they were happy in the Big South. Jerry's answer was to the effect of: We're looking to get out of the Big South. That is one of the reasons these consultants are in town. We want a FBS conference.

Pat Williams (from the Magic) asked: so are you thinking ACC, Big East? Jerry's answer was: it all depends on who has an opening when we're ready to move.


I'm just glad there wasnt a PR answer of "We're happy in the Big South" and instead "we're looking to move"

This article got posted in another thread, but I see no reason for it to not have it's own. I believe the specifically stated that this isn't about moving up. However, that doesn't mean it's true. I tend to think this more about getting a "state of LU athletics" type of report from a respected outside source for the benefit of another conference.

There's definitely some "read between the lines" to what Barber said here. He's got to toe a fine line in these sorts of situations.
