This kid is a stud. At the game last night I felt like we should throw it to him every play. When the ball was anywhere within his reach it stuck to his hands like glue. The one pass where he got mauled on the pass interference he still almost caught it. I'd love for someone to find me a better WR in the country. Look at the numbers he's put up against the likes of JMU and Ball State. Imagine what he's going to do against the Big South.

What I was thinking about last night is if you look at the "thrown to attempts" to completions I bet it's around 80% if not higher....I'd keep trying to go that way until it's at least 50/50
He's to good not to. Last night was amazing. There were quite a few times the ball was thrown behind him that he made an unbelievable snag to bring it in.

I remember when he got here he was so hyped up and was just so disappointing. I knew he'd eventually be at least serviceable but I didn't think he'd be able to live up to what we expected out of him before he even played a down. Boy was I wrong. He doesn't just rely on his physical superiority either. He seems to do everything well, and be physically superior to whoever's defending him.

Can't we just throw it to him every play? I've yet to see anyone stop him.

One of the major upsides to our receiving corps is we have a couple big weapons even if teams were able to match up man for man with Summers...Pat Kelly has really come on this year as a second option and is the one that jumps out in my mind

I don't think we throw it to him enough to make other teams double him. We probably look his way 10-12 times a game. That's not enough for a receiver his caliber.

I would like to see the team do a scientific experiment where they just throw to him every single time. Just to see how long it takes to stop him.

How much better can he get for next year?

next year opponents have to stack 3 people on him leaving our other wide receivers wide open

Let's say he decides not to come back next year and enters the draft instead. What do you all think his chances are of being picked up? Either being drafted or as a free agent?

His chances would be vastly improved with another year at the college level to impress scouts.

Jerome Simpson has really hurt any future draft status.

No it hasn't. Simpson was a guy who didn't have a great work ethic and didn't know how to run routes in college. He was just more of an athlete than everyone else. His bust may have hurt the chances of getting drafted 2nd round but not of getting drafted.

Most receiving touchdowns in a season is 10 by Eric Green. Chris has 8.

Just looked at the media guide for career and single season receiving rankings:
LU Records:
2548 Career Receiving Yards
176 Career Receptions
22 Career Touchdowns
1075 Season Receiving Yards
81 Season Receptions
10 Season TDs
Chris' numbers:
1178 Career Receiving Yards
91 Career Receptions
12 Career Touchdowns
561 Season Receiving Yards
43 Season Receptions
8 Season TDs
In order to break each of these records Chris needs to average:
80.58 yds per game to break career yards
5 receptions per game to break career receptions
0.58 tds per game to break career tds
85.67 to break season yards
6.33 to break season receptions
3 tds over 5 games to break season tds
This kid's about to own every receiving record we have.

I think he has a chance to be a no doubt "first ballot" HoF selection if he keeps this up

Hopefully he doesn't have anything in common with Samson

With the fantastic start he has had this year, Chris certainly has an opportunity to rewrite a lot of the single season records. As far as carreer stats are concerned, I think it's a bit premature to predict him shattering any records. First of all, he didn't get off to a very good start as a Redshirt Freshman, and while he showed flashes last year, his season numbers weren't that great. Opponents are just now starting to double team him more frequently, and of course there is no guarantee he will stay healthy, so maintaining the pace he has set in the first 5 games this year could be a challenge. As far as pro prospects are concerned, I have to say he is the best we have had since Kelvin Edwards and Freddie Banks.

IF he doesn't get hurt, he's breaking all of those records.

Probably.................... and I certainly hope so. The only other variable is if opponents really start focusing on him with double teams on every play. I think he can still get his share, but if other receivers are left open, Mike may not go to him as often.
