the inconsistency this team continue to show year to year is starting to get frustrating.

There is no excuse for losing to this team. I can't wait until the apologist come out and try to defend this one. The team simply did not show up to play, their talent kept them in the game but their energy level spoke volumes.

I don't want to go off the deep end over one game, but the pattern is just getting old...

My condolences. I know the feeling of losing to a team like this (Hofstra last year - they promptly canceled football, so we will never have a chance of revenge). This should only put more pressure on your players to win next week, will be a heck of a game in Bridgeforth.

If we play anywhere close to how we played this week (and last week for that matter), the game next week will be a huge let down for all involved...

man I should just take a break from posting, but I was disgusted with the effort shown today

couple of my thoughts..

playcalling was terrible...
no running game...
no discipline. to many drive killing penalties
oh we're never going to win anything if you going to keep running zone coverage. How many deep passes over the middle are you going to give up
like i said same ole' liberty lose to inferior teams. presby, rmu, laffy..etc.. rocco needs to change up the d. new d cord. or new scheme. something because for the last 2/3 years i heard how good the d is.....

OLB/DE were terrible so many arm tackling and they were getting abused by their OLine. Lee once again burned by deep passes. same w/ Mayo but he's a run stopping stud though so i don't understand why they leave him in there single coverage, where he gets burnt for tds (today and last week.)

There needs to be a change on defense: coaching, style, something like that.

If you run a defense that doesn't...

1. Get pressure on the QB
2. Stop the run
3. Stop third downs

Then it needs to change. We win when we can get out on the front foot and force a team to pass, and we can bend but not break. Our defense never puts us in a position to win in games like these. They get dominated on the point of attack, and then can't stop on 3rd down when it is time to stop the pass.

Something must change. Our offense wasn't great, but 20+ points and a couple more chances with better field position should have won this game. Mike didn't have a great game, a couple times he locked in on Chris and threw a terrible ball, but other than that, the offense was okay. The defense lost it, especially the baffling "drop 8" zone in a tied game to allow multiple big pass plays.

I have a feeling it won't be as bad as your forsee. Mickey still loves to run the ball, and you don't exactly run up the score on decent teams like that (unless you can't tackle).

At least in the first half, it should be highly competitive. That is, if you can avoid TURNOVERS.

We don't tackle that well, either. That hurt us today too.

I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments of frustration in this thread. At the same time I think it should be noted that we may have just lost a close game on the road to a team that could be headed to the playoffs this year. The Colonials made a strong case for being one of the favorites to earn the NEC autobid.

Yes, our autobid discussions will be be over for awhile, but the season is far from over. No matter what the outcome of the game next Saturday at Bridgeforth proves to be, we still need to take care of business in the Big South and we are in the postseason for the first time ever. Anything else is gravy.

We can reset all of our Presby, Laffy & Stony takes but the facts are that we need to make some adjustments but we will still be favorites for every game the rest of the season outside of next weekend.

It could be worse- Georgia State (lost to Lambuth last week) just tied up #4 JSU, 20-20. Like I said earlier- be glad we didn't schedule Tusculum or another D2 this week!

Can anybody name a playoff caliber team we've beaten in the last 5 years besides Elon? And they were a fringe playoff team. Maybe we need to come to terms with the fact that we have a good football program and it's rising, but we still have a LONG way to go to be in the championship hunt. (or even the 2nd round hunt)

very true. but you are definitely moving in the right direction...Rocco is a great coach and as long as he is at LU you will only get better.
